Bent-Con Update!



 The list of special guests for this year's LGBT comic convention 
Bent-Con is growing! New names have been added since we first posted the guest-list and as far as we know there may still be more added. Even before more guests were announced Bent-Con 2011 was shaping up to be bigger than ever. In addition to the special guests in the list below there will be exhibitors, panels, film-screenings & parties and more. And among the fans will be attendees from the various creative arts & media.  It's going to be a blast.

  For those who are just learning about
Bent-Con here's the lowdown. The convention is devoted to "encouraging, celebrating and appreciating LGBT and LGBT-friendly comic-book artists, writers, creators, publishers, directors and producers, creating media targeted directly to LGBT audiences or as part of the larger realm of underground and mainstream pop-culture as a whole."  

   As we mentioned at the top there's an updated list of guests attending this year's Bent-Con and for those devotees of sci-fi, fantasy & horror there are a few nice surprises. Here's the list updated this week:

  • Phil Jimenez, comic book writer, artist and penciller, Wonder WomanInfinite CrisisNew X-Men and The Invisibles.
  • Patrick Fillion, artist, writer, creator and co-publisher of Class Comics BoytoonsNaked Justice and Camili-Cat.
  • Robert Fraser, co-Publisher and writer at Class Comics.
  • Brad Rader, Emmy award-winning animation director, storyboard artist, and creator of True Adult Fantasy comics.
  • Brian Anderson, award-winning creator of the comic So Super Duper.
  • Charles “Zan” Christiansen, Publisher of Northwest Press and writer of The Mark of Aecus and The Power Within.
  • Chuck Kim, writer on NBC’s Heroes and with DC Comics.
  • Dave Davenport, Comix artist of Marginalized PublicationsDogSpunk.Com and tattoo artist.
  • Jody Wheeler, writer, director of In the Closet and creator of DoorQ.com: The Gay SciFi, Fantasy and Horror Site.
  • Joe Phillips, artist, illustrator, animator, designer and sculptor.
  • Jon Macy, winner of the 2010 Lambda Literary Award for Teleny & Camille and creator of Fearful Hunter.
  • Ronnie Mena, celebrated face/body painter in Los Angeles, CA.
  • Jane Espenson, writer and producer, Husbands, Buffy The Vampire Slayer
  • Jeff Krell, creator of the groundbreaking comic strip Jayson.
  • Belasco, erotic comic-book artist, sculptor and animator.
  • Michael Troy, artist, creator of The Blonde Squad and The Boy Who Loved Magnificent Woman.
  • Tim Sullivan, director of 2001:ManiacsI Was A Teenage WearbearChillerama.
  • Tom of Finland Foundation, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, promoting and preserving erotic art.
  • Trevor Kovac, artist and writer various comic-book series with SLG Publishing and Disney Press, Wonderland and more recently, The Royal Historian of Oz.
  • JT Tepnapa, director, Judas KissStar Trek: Hidden Frontier.
  • Justin Hall, artist, contributor and creator of True Travel Tales, Hard 2 Swallow, Glamazonia: The Uncanny SuperTranny.
  • Sean-Z of Rated-Z Studios and the creator of Myth.
  • Carlos Pedraza, writer, producer, Star Trek Phase II and Judas Kiss.
  • Kerry O’Quinn, creator and publisher of Starlog and Fangoria magazines.
  • Paul Ward, director of Stephen King’s One For The Road film.
  • Brian McCulley, director the zombie webseries The Locals.
  • Sean Paul Lockhart (aka Brent Corrigan), actor in Werebears and Judas Kiss.

      Again there are going to be lots of updates between now & December so you should follow the Bent-Con Twitter in addition to the Bent-Con site.  And of course we'll cover them here.

     One thing more we want to mention is that
Bent-Con is looking for donations. Bent-Con is a non-profit organization whose worthwhile  mission is to bring a well-deserved spotlight to "LGBT and LGBT-friendly" comic book artists, writers, creators, and publishers.
