Countdown to the Grabbys Part 3
Did you know that there was once a Burnout of the Year Award? Fresh Surprise of the Year?
Comeback of the Year? How about a Promising New Performers Award given to a group of performers as in a prescient Hall of Fame. The Comeback award might have been interesting considering how several retirees have returned to the biz. But Burnout? OUCH!
There were also awards given to Hot Shots, Best Ethnic Performer, Best Romance Video, Best Fantasy video, & Best Actor-Action Hero. There were also a series of Surprise Awards two of are now standard like Best Versatile Performer & Best Cum Shot (now called Best Cum Scene--see below). Then there's the Hottest Cock Award which was around for several years..until this time. Odd.
Now on to this year. We remain very curious as to what criteria is used in the Hottest Cum Scene & Hottest Ass Eating categories. In the former it would be fun to see if there was some kind of check list for the judges. Distance? Volume? Excitement level? Vocal enhancements? Having seen all the nominees at least once (it's part of our job, don't you know) a few of the scenes stand out such as those from Tales of the Arabian Knights 2, Crotch Rocket, & Raising The Bar with Steven Daigle & Jock Hudson.
Hottest Ass Eating used to be known as Best Rimming Scene we assume for those purists who believe that the latter is too narrow a definition? Again, we've seen all these movies but we have to give the edge to Adam Killian's scenes with Francesco D'Macho in Arab Heat, and with Landon Mycles in Raising The Bar. Adam's gusto as a performer is always a standout & he gets grerat reactions from both his co-stars here.
In the Best Solo category we tend to recall those guys that make the most out of a solo & emote. The memorable ones here are Kris Evans (Step by Step), Park Wiley (Brutal 2 ) & Shane Frost (Shane's Pool Party).
The Best Duo category is one of the hardest to figure because they're all strong nominees. For sheer hardcore passion & how integral a scene was to the movie we'd pick Angelo Marconi & Brenn Wyson from Brutal 1 & Brent Everett & Jake Lyons, Little Big League IV: Grand Slam. For sheer uninhibited sexuality alone that would be Kyle King & Drew Cutler from Loading Zone .
We'd judge the Best Three Way category the same although all the scenes are damn good. We'd have to go for those ones we've watched multiple times: Jason Adonis,Trent Diesel & Spencer Reed in Brutal 1 and Donny Wright, Billy Byron & Devon Hunter in Shane's Pool Party, Jocks/Falcon.
Best Group Sex Scene. Again we'd have to give it to the movies where the scene was as important to the rest as it was on its own. The nominated scenes from Tales Of The Arabian Nights 2, Crotch Rocket, & Police Academy Gangbang all made the grade for us.
The Best Non-Sexual role can either be totally overlooked or thankless but we really got a kick out of Howard Andrews in Little Big League IV: Grand Slam and Chi Chi LaRue as the "host" in F*CK U.
Isn't it funny that there are Best Versatile Performer & Hottest Bottom awards but no Hottest Top? If there was we have a strong feeling that Spencer Reed would walk away with that one. As for the categories that DO exist we're really torn. Adam Killian could easily win every category he's nominated in so because of that Tommy Defendi & Kyle King really should be given the chance in the Best Versatile Award. They've put in the time & energy & are believable in whatever they do. As for Hottest Bottom (not best?) we have a feeling Brent Corrigan will win but we'd love seeing super-sweet Landon Mycles (aka Marcus Mojo)
get it for all his efforts.
We & so many others have complained that Chris Porter wasn't nominated in the Best Newcomer category but that's over & done. The nominees all have a very strong case for being here and we have strong but divided loyalties. There are likely to be two winners here and we'd be ecstatic if they made it a six-way tie between Kennedy Carter, Landon Conrad, Drew Cutler, Steven Daigle, Landon Mycles, & Riley Price.
The way we figure all those who are in gay porn have to act when they perform--it's really the nature of the business. However those nominated in the "acting" categories are really playing full-on roles. We have a strong feeling that Ricky Sinz' tortured & somewhat twisted character in Brutal will win him another award this time as Best Actor. His rival in the same movie Brenn Wyson has possibly the best chance in the Best Supporting Actor category. But really the guys nominated for Raising The Bar are strong contenders too.
Just as with Best Newcomer the Best Performer Award will be a two-way tie and like the previous category this one could easily be more. You go down the list and all 15 nominees have a strong case---as well as a strong fan base that would be happy to see their favorite performer win. We wouldn't be at all surprised to see Samuel Colt, Landon Conrad, Steven Daigle, Brent Everett, & Conner Habib as the winners.
