It Gets Better: The Book
The YouTube video project It Get Better started by writer Dan Savage & his husband Terry Miller is now a book! After nearly 10, 000 people have filmed videos which have been watched over 30 million times Dan & Terry have published It Gets Better: The Book. It's a collection of stories from many people who participated in this worthwhile project, inspired by the rash of gay teen suicides which often gay as the result of anti-gay bullying. If you've followed the project you know that the participants have included stars, musicians, politicians & elected officials, writers, clergymen, and people just like you.
It Gets Better: The Book includes transcripts of the YouTube videos, new essays derived from the videos, and all-new original essays & material. ALL proceeds from the sales of the book will benefit LGBT youth charities so if you haven't contributed to the project or haven't had the time to donate $$ this is a great way to do so. There's extra good news in that the book is available as a Kindle download!
This has been an extremely worthwhile & noteworthy project and while it hasn't gotten the publicity or attention lately, it continues on --as does the bullying unfortunately. As the book's decription says "...each and every story will touch you, move you and encourage you to do better for LGBT youth."
