A Night At The Cybersocket Awards 2011 Part 1

As expected Cybersocket Web Awards was indeed a star-studded evening & it was exciting to see so many of our faves in one place. It was also a treat to catch up with our friends & acquaintances as well as meet many new friends amidst. Yes, it was also a loud night, a bit disorganized and at times a bit rushed and frenetic. But that was expected too given the fact that the Cybersocket Awards have really grown & expanded in a few years, there was a new venue for the event, and the turnout was so heavy. It could have been worse but it also could have been a lot better...more on that later.

As we said the awards presentation was a little messy last night and thanks to the layout of the club (The Factory) there was a little confusion. It wasn't easy to find and/or run into people we were looking for. That being said Chi Chi LaRue did another masterful job as DJ & was a pro as both presenter & award winner.

The ceremony started a little late but moved at a brisk pace...perhaps too much so. Yes, it's good that the presenters didn't have to rattle off the names of nominees all of which appeared on screen behind the presenters. However, the presenters did look like they were rushed up and off stage. There was a slight anti-climactic feel to the announcement of winners too and the lack of applause and crowd reaction didn't help. Plus it was rude. Applaud & cheer for the winners people...even if your faves didn't win.

So, how to make it better? Well, the check-in was definitely in need of improvement. Cybersocket went overboard on handing out the VIP passes and with a turnout like that more staffers could have helped move things along. As for the show a rehearsal and run through would definitely have helped. When you've got a new venue it's imperative to do that.
