Two Good-Byes To Porn
From what we've seen & read so far it sounds like an insanely hot time was had by all this past Folsom Street Fair-GAYVN Awards weekend but in the middle of this there was other gay porn news unrelated to the events in SF. We got word that stars Tony Capucci & RJ Danvers have retired. In the case of Tony Capucci it sounds permanent while RJ Danvers seems to have left open the small possibility of returning to the biz.
Tony Capucci had been scheduled to appear last Thursday at Cocktails With The Stars at Micky's in Weho but he was a no-show. In our weekly report from David Forest (who has been producing & providing the talent for the shows in September) he let us know that Tony Capucci has "totally left the xxx biz". No other details or reasons for his decision were given so any speculation on our part would be baseless. By the way, it seems that in Capucci's absence Jayden Ellis stepped it up and brought two of his friends: Krys Perez & Brice Carson. The guys are not only Jayden's roommates, they co-star with him in Twinklight. Also the theme of the evening was “Muscles and Twinks” ...thanks to the much-anticipated appearance of Robert Van Damme who apparently looked great.
The RJ Danvers retirement story is completely different. Over the weekend it reported that RJ had retired and fortunately there was no need for speculation because RJ explained it all on his blog. If you follow him on Twitter you know already that RJ has moved to Florida and is working at a comic book store. Actually that's something of a dream job considering the fact that like Jack Manly & several others in the gay porn biz RJ is a huge comic book fan (his last name as a porn star Danvers is derived from the secret ID of comic book character Ms Marvel.
How RJ Danvers got to this place is a bit more complex and since he has been very open with his fans he wanted to be the one to give the details. Back in June he checked himself into rehab for amphetamine addiction and is in recovery. Rather than paraphrase RJ further we suggest you read his frank (and hopeful) message at his blog. It's a very refreshingly honest self-appraisal. As we mentioned he does leave the door open to doing more on-camera work but wisely he's taking this time to achieve normalcy. Fortunately RJ also has lots of support from family & friends, including his agent Howard from FabScout. Howard also sent us a very kind & thoughtful message as well as a note that RJ is doing great. We wish RJ Danvers all the best on this new path.
Back to this past weekend no doubt you'll be reading about & seeing tons of pics at gay porn blogs and the blogs of gay porn stars who were out in force in San Francisco. Once we get a sense of where to find the most complete overview we'll let you know.
