GAYVN Nominations First Look
Okay, so we've had a day to look over the nominations for this year's GAYVN Awards and now it's time to take and even closer look at what's in store. As we all know this was a challenging year for the GAYVN Awards and there was probably no way to make everyone happy or satisfied with the nominations. At the very least adding a few categories helped open things up so that some quality movies weren't left out for simply being genre films.
The first thing that struck us about the categories & nominees was the inconsistency in the number of nominees. The Best Actor category has six nominees, Best Director twelve, Best Newcomer seven, and so one.
As with the Oscars it makes little sense when movies are nominated when the directors aren't. The fact that they don't align is not right. If the movies of John Bruno & Steve Cruz/Leif Gobo are nominated shouldn't they be nominated as well for directing?
When the categories were announced the omission of a script/screenplay category was mind-boggling. We're still perplexed by this because the GAYVN added more movie categories and could easily have added this category too.
We ARE very pleased and happy for the Best Newcomer nominees. All of the guys are very deserving for all their hard work. In fact a few have been at this awhile and are probably thinking to themselves that they didn't think of themselves as newcomers. We do feel that a few should have been nominated. JR Matthews, Craig Reynolds, Samuel Colt, Landon Mycles, Landon Conrad, Steven Daigle, Junior Stellano, and Drew Cutler come to mind.

The Performer Of The Year category should have been much longer. All the men nominated are also very deserving ---but only five?
Biggest disappointment: No nominations for Samuel Colt. That's almost outrageous.
We're very happy to see Chris Steele & Jet Set Men getting recognition. Long overdue.
Spencer Reed. Hell yeah, it's about time!
Dominic Ford. We're so happy that they weren't overlooked.
As we mentioned before in the days & weeks ahead we'll try & take a closer look at some of the nominees and make our picks & predictions when possible. In the meantime, congratulations to all the nominees!
