GAYVN Nominations Are Here!
The first thing the GAYVN Awards site addressed was the inherent difficulty in narrowing down the list of nominees. As you recall, because of the postponement of the awards until September, GAYVN made the decision to expand the eligibility time frame to include videos releases from all of 2009 and the first half of 2010. Still, they seemed determined to keep the lists down to a "manageable size" so they acknowledged that difficult decisions had to be made." However no indication was made as to what criteria was used for this whittling down process.
GAYVN also held to its tradition of not recognizing bareback content. To that end many websites were not nominated and this made the nominee selection in the web categories difficult. The other result of not recognizing BB content was that two categories were dropped this year: Best Mega-Site & Best Retail/VOD Site. All this being said the committee will be "considering guidelines under which bareback content will be considered for next year’s awards."
While there was a narrowing down of nominees per category GAYVN actually added three categories since the prelims were announced. This was due to the sheer volume of "themed" nominees. So, the additional categories are Best Fetish Release, Best Amateur/Pro-Am Release and Best Sex Comedy.
