Muscle & Ink: The Review
Those who are intrigued and turned on by muscular & masculine tattooed men will undoubtedly be automatically overjoyed with Muscle & Ink. However the beauty of the movie is that is it has a great deal of appeal beyond its niche. Anyone who likes gay porn should appreciate & get off on the fact that it's well-conceived & beautifully shot with hot passionate sex & uncanny chemistry between the performers. Director Steve Cruz deserves high marks for Muscle & Ink and not just because its his first solo effort as director--he also did the cinematography & the editing. In the past Steve has shared credit with other people but we can honestly say here that Muscle & Ink deserves all the kudos for this hot movie.
Conceptually Muscle & Ink keeps it simple with sparse sets so that the focus is completely on the performers and their tattoos. On the other hand the scenes all feature subtly colorful lighting combined with warm cinematography, both of which beautifully complement the rough & rugged men & their inked bods and softens the edges.
You'll see that edges are softened by the way the performers are directed. There's a remarkable amount of passion in the very first scene with Alexsander Freitas & newcomer Damian Dragon. Freitas has an amazing body & artistically crafted tattoos but he also has a tendency to be very seriously-looking & hard-edged as a performer. Yet right from the start these he & Dragon two are kissing and worshipping each other's bodies with great passion. There's a good amount of kissing & cocksucking before the two get down to some hard fucking but by now there's seems to be an emotional connection to the two that prevents the scene from looking mechanical. Freitas is still a power top but he's allowed (or encouraged) to let some of that inner Latin lover out. As for Damian Dragon he looks like he might be an emotionless piece of walking "body art" but he too is far more passionate than his pics lead us to believe.
In the second scene we get another veteran & newcomer pairing--Drake Jaden & Santino Vega. In contrast to the first scene these two start off physically apart --although not for very long. Punkish Jaden is soon gobbling down on Vega's big cock before he gets rewarded with a hot deep fucking. It's interesting to see contrasting physical types make such an obvious connection on camera as with the first scene. Drake Jayden really uses his entire body we see that same thing in Santino Vega. It becomes quite clear why these two were paired up.
The third scene features Johnny Gunn & Christian Wilde and it really is one of the more fascinating match-ups here. Gunn is one of those balls-out kind of performers who throws himself enthusiastically into his roles. Wilde is always a bit more subdued and being that he's a tall lean & younger performer the you would think these two couldn't possibly pair up well. Yet Steve Cruz doesn't accentuate their physical differences much at all. The two even seem to find a meeting ground for their performing styles. Kissing leads to sucking before Johnny Gunn is riding Christian Wilde's super hard cock like a pro. Eventually Johnny is on his back cumming while Christian is deep inside him and that always works to make a top feel that they're doing a great job. The two get a little verbal & vocal which always makes for a hot scene.
The final scene in Muscle & Ink with Adam Killian & Scott Tanner is a differently structure sequence and so it becomes more interesting to watch as it unfolds. Adam is seen feeling up his hot body, his rock hard cock bobbing in the air as he does. He seems to be oblivious to blond Scott Tanner who seems pleasantly mesmerized by the show he's getting. The scene changes dramatically as we see Scott giving head to Adam as the dark-haired stud kneels on a suspended St Andrews Cross. The two work in delicious sync with Scott deep throating as Adam thrusts his hips upwards. It's obvious Scott is hitting all the right buttons because Adam lets out with some vocal outbursts (again, always a hot touch) When the two switch positions we get the same button-pushing & vocals---thing time from Scott. Everything seems so spontaneous and natural that it makes for a great punctuation mark for the movie.
Muscle & Ink also features a second disc of solos where we get to see even more of these guys and their hot bods. Drake Jaden, Alexsander Freitas, Johnny Gunn, Santino Vega, & Scott Tanner all share in common the talent for doing hot solos. The key here is that they all have different styles and have their own way of making a connection to the camera.
