Alex Mapa To Host GAYN Awards
The nominations for the 12th Annual GayVN Awards have yet to be announced but the awards presentation itself has a host. GayVN announced that super-talented actor-comedian-activist Alec Mapa will do the honors at this year's awards on September 24th at the Castro Theatre in SF. As you recall Mapa co-hosted last year with Margaret Cho & Janice Dickinson so this is pretty familiar ground for him. Nevertheless as solo host he should be spectacular.
Many of you know that Alec Mapa has appeared on stage, in film, and on more than 40 television series. By the way what you may not be aware of is his LGBT activism. He's appeared on behalf on the HRC and the Matthew Shepard Foundation and garnered a GLAAD award for his work. Here in LA we've seen him in several one-man shows benefiting the Gay & Lesbian Center. These were remarkable shows that we could see again & again so if he's in your town & performing we strongly recommend you get yourself to the theatre to see him in action. As we mentioned before this year's GayVN Awards were moved to be a part of Folsom Street Weekend which includes the annual Street Fair and several other events & parties. GayVN has all the events listed at the website GAYVNAwards.com. We've also learned that the admission is not cheap. Industry admission is $100 and general admission is $145!!
