The GAYVN Awards: Personality of the Year
According to the press release the award will "will recognize the zaniest, sexiest, most-over-the-top non-sex personalities who operate in and around the realm of gay adult entertainment." In addition this will be the first time that the awards will feature a category based on fan input.
The GAYVN selection committee will consider nominations from ANY personality or industry insider through its website up to the June 15th deadline. The caveat is that the nominee must have had a " non-sexually-explicit role." According to GAYVN "bloggers, photographers, agents, casting directors, stage-show hosts, feature dancers, go-go boys and others are eligible—including porn stars, if they also perform in non-sexually-explicit capacities."
Unlike the other categories the top three nominees for Personality of the Year will have to appear onstage at the awards presentation on September 24. After the nominees are introduced to the audience (possibly with a performance or speech) the audience will cast their votes for the winner. The GAYVN hopes that they get some great nominees and performances and to make this category a permanent thing.
As you recall the GAYVN Awards this year were moved to September and will take place the same weekend, and in conjunction with, the Folsom Street Fair in SF. Because of the delay the eligibility for nominations was expanded to include movies & website videos released in all of 2009 s and up to May 31, 2010. So it stands to reason there are going to be a lot of nominees this year, possibly a little confusion too. We'll bet that some people will be competing against themselves!
