Getting Levi's Johnson: The Review
Even if you're one of those who don't like seeing gay porn & parody mix you'll surely appreciate the way that it's deftly handled by Jet Set Men director Chris Steele in Getting Levi's Johnson. He has put together a very impressive cast into a production that is as hot and sexy as it is effective as humorous commentary on recent political & pop culture events. Specifically, it's a gay-porn take on the life of Sarah Palin's almost son-in-law Levi Johnston whose attempts as extending his fifteen minutes of fame met with limited success. In fact had events in the real Levi's life transpired the way they do in Getting Levi's Johnson he might have been a far more interesting figure.
Right from the start of Getting Levi's Johnson you'll see the attention to detail. It opens with a dead-on recreation of Levi's pistachio commercial followed by his acceptance of a Fleshbot Award. Levi is played by newcomer Casey Monroe and aided by a passing resemblance to him. On the other hand the real Levi has often come across as a bit of a doofus while Casey seems to have a bit more on the ball. While contemplating his upcoming "Playdude" photoshoot Levi gets a call from Serra Paylin portrayed by porn star Lisa Ann. It's a nifty casting coup to get her because she previously played the Alaska governor in a straight porn flick. In this version apparently the woman isn't on the outs with Levi--in fact she alludes to some sexual interest.
Levi asks one of his bodyguards if he should get naked for a magazine and the beefy bodyguard responds that he should--because he did it once too. Here's the second bit of stunt-casting: Muscleman Mark Dalton in his return to the screen as the bodyguard. Levi gets Dalton to strip, flex, and jack off for him (and you the audience) and while it isn't ground-breaking material it does show that Mark Dalton still has that unmistakeable screen presence.
Behind the scenes it seems that Serra is actually encouraging the media to use Levi because it will help in the sales of her book. Vanity Flair magazine editor Dallas Reeves gets a call from her trying to push the magazine to show Levi naked, but the editor insists it's too classy a magazine for that. After that Dallas & his Twitter-happy assistant Luke Marcum get a look at their new underwear model. scrumptious Brent Corrigan. Dallas Reeves approves of the new hire but NOT of Luke's twittering, so he shows him who's boss in an office space flip-flop fuck scene. Experienced porn watchers will be happy to see that Reeves still has the onscreen magic and those not familiar with Marcum will be pleasantly surprised. Luke Marcum looks innocent & quiet but in action he's neither. That's always a nice surprise & he holds his own with Dallas Reeves' energy.
The Vanity Flair photo shoot follows and after the montage of stills Levi & a member of the film crew Brent Corrigan (it seems he has two jobs at the magazine) chat it up on the rooftop set. Again Levi just can't decide whether to do the Playdude shoot and Brent encourages him to go for it. Levi gives Brent a sneak peek and before you know it Brent is on his knees sucking off Levi. The Alaskan stud reciprocates before he tops the agile & vocal star. Here you'll see that Casey Monroe is talented as well as a being a good visual casting choice. In fact the scene with Brent Corrigan is almost romantic. Could be that's the effect that Brent has on his co-stars. Of course it helps that Brent Corrigan has a hot bod & is maturing very well--he really is irresistible.
After an appearance on a talk show Serra where she denounces Levi, she calls him to give him encouragement to do the nude layout (again as a way to boost publicity for herself). While on the phone she reminds him of his secret past and the two flash back to his senior year in HS and his hook-up with a fellow school hockey player. Tommy G plays the younger Levi (not THAT much younger) while super-sexy Landon Mycles is his horny hockey bud who can't wait to make out with him. Tommy G is sexy, hung, and a good performer but this scene really belongs to Landon Mycles. He's come a long way since his early days as "Marcus Mojo" and really become a star beyond his muscled body & handsome face. He's totally uninhibited as a performer from kissing, sucking and being a hot bottom. He's also verbal and vocal and he makes this scene a total turn-on.
The Playdude photoshoot takes place and after it wraps Levi is still left pondering whether he should have done porn. He shows off his ass to his bodyguard Diesel Washington, who up until now has been the silent sentinel in several scenes. Diesel approves and photographer Jesse Santana pops back in to show off his ass for approval. Of course you gotta know that a hot three way ensues with plenty of sucking and fucking. It's actually a complexly constructed scene complete with Diesel Washington signature moves and both of his screen partners doing a variety of moves on their own. Diesel Washington is the very verbal and dominant power top with both guys, but he uses power bottom Jesse Santana first. Then Casey Monroe really gets to prove he's more than just a double for Levi. He gets pounded by Diesel while getting his mouth stuffed by Jesse. A very wet & creamy climax is followed by the movie's punchline which may or may not happen--but could.
Again we have to give credit to Chris Steele for putting this Getting Levi's Johnson together successfully. Aside from the overall story (featuring a script by Steele) there are lots of nice visual touches sprinkled throughout the movie that give it added authenticity. Videographer Brad Austin, the production designers, and the rest of the crew must have really given a lot of effort--because it shows on screen.
