Stud Mall: The Guilt Free, Guilty Pleasure Sale!
Among our many goals here at Jack Manly is spotlighting what we think are worthy websites & retailers and letting you know about good deals & sales when they're made known to us. There are times like this week when we get to take of several of our goals all at once.
This week NYC based online retailer Stud Mall unveiled its revamped site with tons of new releases and launched a "Guilt Free - Guilty Pleasure Sale". From now until the end of May Stud Mall has a Buy One DVD & Get Two FREE Sale on almost 200 titles. It's a great incentive to check out one of the few independent online retailers that's "gay-owned & gay-operated" and proudly a gay porn fan.
Prior to receiving the press release on the sale & relaunch, we were fairly unfamiliar with Stud Mall and we imagine many of you are too. Stud Mall is operated by popular Brooklyn blogger & self-proclaimed hipster Benny Morecock whose approach to online retail is as unique as it is welcome. Morecock's intent is to bring back the "brick-and-mortar Mom n’ Pop feel back to online shopping" with a commitment to customer service --as though it was your neighborhood store. Morecock likens himself to your potential "personal shopper". To this end Stud Mall has gay porn experts on hand to answer questions about a particular DVD, the latest new releases, etc.
As part of its commitment to customer service Stud Mall is also willing (and apparently eager) to do the "leg work" and track down DVDs the store may not carry. As it is Stud Mall carries "everything from BelAmi, Eurocreme and Lucas Entertainment to edgy studios like CockyBoys and Satyr Films as well as everything in between…"
We checked out Stud Mall and liked the design and the overall edgy look. It definitely has that NYC feel & appeal and because it features many of the NY based video companies it really does feel like a neighborhood store. The store is also a reflection of Morecock's attitude towards DVDs in general: "Despite the dominating market of online porn, there’s no replacement to having that DVD in hand, where in your Masterbatorium it’s still your holy grail."
