Tom of Finland Erotic Art Fair 2010
Jack Manly returned to the annual Tom of Finland Erotic Art Fair in West Hollywood this past Sunday and while it was smaller this year than last there was still a ton of impressive male erotica on display. And like last year there were live models as you can see above. The two guys you see here did a good job of dressing up & posing in the spirit of the late artist after whom the festival is named. They had tons of artists sketching them & taking their pics and their audience grew steadily through the afternoon.
But, as we mentioned, the fair was slightly smaller due to the lack of representation by many of the erotic comic artists who had stuff on display last year. Interestingly the exception to this was Sean Platter, the illustrator of DemonicSex, the hardcore gay sex-occult comic written by Chuck Connor. He was there with his comics and some compterized imagery from the soon-to-be-filmed movie. Yes, this is the big budget gay porn movie we told you about before that will star Samuel Colt & Zak Spears. It was nice to finally meet & speak to Sean although we missed seeing Samuel who was in town for his Man of the Year party at MJ's and wentto the fair on Saturday.
By the way Saturday was also the Mr LA Leather contest and Samuel Colt attended that too to help cheer on his friend Alessio Romero's bf Tom Pardoe, representing Eagle LA. You'll recall that Alessio modeled last year at the art fair amd has since gone on to be a rising star in gay porn.
Even though many comic & graphic novel artists & writers weren't on hand, you couldn't help but be impressed by the talent on hand and their work. From vintage magazines to fine art the amount of male erotica that has been produced and continues to flourish is astounding. We've appreciated the work of the Tom Of Finland Foundation in promoting & preserving this art but it's not until you see the art up close do you realize how important this work is.
