Grabby Awards Nominations: First Look

We've had a chance to look over the 2010 Grabby Awards nominations and there's definitely lots to talk about here. For the most part the nominations are well-distributed in that the studios and individuals who contributed to the wealth of product that came out in 2009 were represented. Given that it's so early, it's really hard to tell who the favorites are this year although we may take a shot at it in the coming weeks as we taking a closer look at many of the categories.

As with any nominations there are some who came out better than others and some who were overlooked. Even though the awards are more than two months away there are some winners simply by virtue of their nominations.

Online video sites definitely came out the winners this year. Last year the Grabbys introduced the Best Web Based Porn Site category and this past year more and more online video stars were being cast into studio productions. While there aren't additional web-based categories this year, websites did make their way into the established categories. That's because sites like Randy Blue, Cocky Boys, & Dominic Ford all began releasing their web videos on DVD. In the case of Randy Blue this included That 70's Gay Porn Movie their full-length movie which first aired on the site and has made its way into several of the regular film categories. However it's Dominic Ford which really came out on top here. Its feature length movie Whorrey Potter wound up with a staggering 12 nominations.

While we're taking count of movie nominations Focus/Refocus led the pack with 14, followed by Taken: To The Lowest Level with 13, Whorrey with 12, Asylum with 9, The Visitor with 8, and Men of Israel with 7. On a first look Channel 1 seems to have the most nominations with 37, followed by Raging Stallion with 35.

As far as individuals go Adam Killian seems to have wound up with the most nominations with 12 in both videography & performing categories. That said he has NO chance of winning all 12 of those nominations -----because he's competing with himself in several categories! Although....is it possible to tie with yourself?
Steve Cruz and is films also wound up with multiple nominations although we're disappointed more of his Mustang movies that he directed with Leif Gobo got recognized.  Jeremy Bilding not only has 7 nominations but he's one of the awards show co-hosts joining Diesel Washinton, Roman  Heart, Chi Chi LaRue, & Honey West.

We're delighted to see many rising stars and veterans were recognized but that some of our faves of 2009 are missing. Marco Blaze, JR Matthews, Race Cooper, Spencer Reed, & Landon Mycles are but a few that were left out and the fact that they and their scenes were overlooked is disconcerting to sat the least.

Coming up we've got more on all the nominations as the Grabbys draw near.
