GLAAD Media Awards 2010 Part 1
As usual there were also special awards bestowed over at the presentation in NYC. Joy Behar received the Excellence in Media Award and Cynthi Nixon was presented with the Vito Russo Award. Appropriately enough Sex & The City creator Michael Patrick King presented Nixon with her award while Behar received hers from Meredith Viera. A Special Recognition was given to Broadway musical Hair. and accepted by openly gay cast member Gavin Creel. In addition the cast of Hair performed to close the awards show.
As for the show it was hosted by Alan Cumming and among the noteworthy celebrrities who appeared and/or accepted awards for their work were Sigourney Weaver, Bryan Batt, Sarah Paulson, Rosie Perez, Michael Urie, Dustin Lance Black, Scott Evans, and many others from the world of film, theater, TV, & journalism.
