The TLA Gaybies Awards
Online retailer TLA made the news the other day when they announced the nominations for their first gay porn-themed TLA Awards (see here) and of course this was widely reported on blogs, the gay porn press, etc. What wasn't reported as much was that TLA also announced the nominations for the more expansive Gaybies Awards, honoring the best gay-themed films, televsion, literature, etc of 2009.
As with the TLA Awards the nominees were selected by the knowledgeable staff at TLA, the online voting is open to everyone, and you can vote as often as you wish. It's not exactly scientific nor will it be immune from ballot-stuffing but both awards presentations do spotlight many people, movies, books, etc that might otherwise have been overloooked. You'll also notice several books, comis, etc on the list with direct ties to the porn biz so the two awards are not as segregated as you might think. Here then are the Gaybies Awards nominations:
