News Round-Up: Odds & Ends
In this edition of our semi-irregular news round-up we're focusing on a few odds & ends from the past week or so. Some are items that have evolved somewhat from how they originally reported, while another is a bit of sad news....
-- Last week it was reported that the GayVN Awards might be canceled this year but before we brought it up here we thought it best to wait a few days to get more clarification. First, the good news: The 12th Gay VN Awards is definitely going to happen this year--it's just been delayed for so-called economic reasons. They are actively seeking sponsors and looking to try and get it televised in one form or another. Obviously, there will be more to follow.
-- Also last week it was reported that Corbin Fisher had filed a lawsuit of over $1 million for copyright infringement over posting of photos at escort site men4rentnow. It seems that one of the escorts is a former CF model Greg who posted his pics from his former employer on his profile page. Now known as porn star Jake Lyons (who can be seen in the new Jet Set flick Pizza Boy Gangbang) he AND the site are named in the lawsuit at the whopping cost of $150K per pic. As we've seen before Corbin Fisher is very serious about protecting its product--it has previously filed suits over prated video content on Ebay and with a mobile content provider. Again, more to follow on this one.
--In some sad news there's another porn death to report. Active Duty model Randy died of "asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide poisoning." Apparently this was accidental although details om the death of this popular young star are still pending. This marks the second strange accidental death in gay porn within the last few months. You might recall that Dustin Michaels died last December in a bizarre case in Florida. Pulled over by the police he tried ingesting a bag of marijuana, resisted arrest & was tasered--which contributed to his choking on the bag.
