Southern Pride: The Review
Southern Pride: Boys in Heat from Raging Stallion would have to rank as one of the most interesting offerings that the studio released in 2009. On the good side it finally gives Austin Wilde a starring role befitting his Man of The Year title. Plus, as another Twinks.com production the movie represents the increasing diversity of models and genres the studio is offering these days. It's also written & directed by Florida-based photographer & producer Gio Caruso so the movie has a fresh look & feel. On the not-so good side this movie was released just before the holidays so there's the possibility that it was overlooked by porn viewers (we're here to help correct that). Plus, after the DVD was released one of the stars Dustin Michaels died so there's a degree of sadness seeing him on-screen after the fact. On balance Southern Pride: Boys in Heat is a fun, sex-filled diversion with hot, young performers with lots of energy.
Southern Pride: Boys in Heat takes place during Gay Pride festivities in various Florida locations and this is used effectively as a premise for the action. The cast of characters are supposed to be working on the float for their parade but they just can't seem to concentrate on the task at hand. Instead they're hooking up with each other left & right with some surprisingly hot outcomes.
First up are Dallas Reeves & Scottie Brooks who are at a warehouse getting ready to decorate the parade when they find they have an hour to kill before the rest of the volunteers arrive.SO...they take the opportunity to go back to the hotel for a hot suck & fuck. There's very little in the way of foreplay at the warehouse and a seeming lack of chemistry. In the hotel room it's a different story and these two guys are entwined together like they mean it. There's something to be said for young guys who are this flexible and can show such natural oral skills.
Meanwhile Dustin Michaels, Giovanni Summers & Austin Wilde arrive at the warehouse to work on the float. Here you'll see that the float is a real prop and not some off-camera plot device. Before they get down to work Austin has to go back and get his tools. Left alone Dustin & Giovanni get down to business on the float itself. As with the first scene the two guys get into the action with a slight amount of clumsiness but they manage to get serious quickly and have a hot fuck session. The scene is also different from the first one because Austin Wilde's character returns to see the guys in action. While he remains hidden from view he strips down and jacks off , showing off his muscular bod & big dick. So what you actually get are two scenes at the same time. The way that Dustin Michaels performs you're almost led to believe that knowing Austin is watching makes him top Giovanni with extra gusto.
When Dallas Reeves returns (a little more cleaned up than before) he's got super-cute Krist Cummings with him. In this scene Cummings makes all the difference with his aggressive verbal style & flexibility. We've seen him in some hot action online and he's definitely a young star to keep an eye on. While he's getting plowed Sebastian Keys shows up and gets into the action. Krist Cummings gets off while he's being plugged from both ends and when he's through Sebastian bottoms for Dallas. So as you can see, Southern Pride: Boys in Heat really puts Dallas Reeves to work!
The float eventually makes it to the parade and it's there that Austin Wilde confesses to Dustin Michaels that he saw him & Giovanni in action. Being that this is porn where voyeurism is flattery Dustin offers to give Austin the same kind of fucking--after the parade. Again to prove that the parade premise wasn't made up you'll see the cast on the float dancing and showing off in their bikini briefs as the real parade progresses. Afterward at the hotel Austin Wilde & Dustin Michaels get their chance together.
Right from the start you'll see that Austin Wilde is one hot kisser and just the right impetus for a very hot & passionate scene. He & Dustin Michaels trade bj's before things get really hot and Austin Wilde is on his back getting primed for plowing. Even though this is a fairly pivotal moment in Austin's burgeoning career this scene is treated naturally as opposed to momentously. It also shows that in addition to being versatile Austin Wilde is as dynamic a performer as you'll find.
Raging Stallion has used Austin Wilde in several movies before but as we said above this starring turn here in Southern Pride: Boys in Heat gives him a chance to shine. That said we hope this means that the studio has paid attention and uses him more prominently in the future.
