Playing With Fire 4: The Review

There are probably very few gay men who haven't at one time or another fantasized about heroic, well-built firefighters and this small faction will probably be the only ones who won't enjoy Playing With Fire 4: Alarm. Everyone else will find this Chi Chi La Rue flick to be ---what else? --VERY hot ! Like Chi Chi's other Channel 1 hit from early 2009 Taken, Playing With Fire 4: Alarm actually has interesting artistic touches from the storytelling technique to the cinematography but never loses sight of the fireman sex fantasy that drives this movie forward. We've become accustomed to seeing a top-notch cast in Channel 1 flicks in recent years but Playing With Fire 4: Alarm has a particularly noteworthy cast that really steps it up.
Playing With Fire 4: Alarm starts out in a very offbeat fashion with no opening credits and a long hot sexy/sleazy prelude Dayton O'Connor & Alessio Romero are a couple of sexy fuck buds who are also a couple of slackers. We know this because their apartment has no furniture except for a rickety shelf, a mattress on the floor and empty beer cans just about everywhere you look. Not that they care--they're too busy smoking weed. Once they get high they go after each other is a sloppy manner, their jeans around their ankles as they suck and hump on the mattress. Their roommate (?) Johnny Hazzard comes home and immediately gets into the action. Tattooed buds Alessio Romero & Johnny Hazzard seem right at home in this dirty little scene but Dayton O'Connor is the one that gets the loudest and filthiest. We've seen Alessio Romero is several hot scenes like this and it seems to be his forte--uninhibited, verbal sex that is just plain hot & dirty.
Well you gotta know that when you've got a few dudes that are high and dozing off that one of them is going to be careless with the lit doobie and accidentally set their place on fire. Here's where the credits roll as the fireman roll into action. Alessio & Dayton aren't the most thoughtful of buds--they leave Johnny Hazzard behind, unconscious & overcome by smoke. Fortunately the fire brigade arrives and muscular Mitchell Rock carries the limp, half-naked Johnny out of the building and to safety in typical heroic fashion.

Two weeks later Johnny Hazzard shows up at the firehouse to thank the crew--at least that's what he tells the guys when asked. We assume that getting saved by a fireman has had a profound effect on him--he's developed a fetish for fireman. We see it when he wanders about, picking up articles of clothing like a fireman's jacket, stray underwear, and taking a big whiff. He sees flashing images of his savior's naked torso and his mind then retreats from reality, conjuring up sex fantasies which play out on screen.
In one of the rooms Johnny finds sleeping young fireman Luke Marcum & Damon Audigier and when he takes a whiff of a hairy of stray undies he closes his eyes and imagines them waking up with morning wood and making out while he fondles his crotch. The cute guys suck and fuck sweetly tender & quasi-romantic scene. Jock-ish Luke Marcum is a bit more believable as a new recruit while Damon Audigier is much more slightly built so you have to use your imagination that the would have passed the physical test to be a firefighter. That said the two performers have a lot of chemistry. After they shoot their loads Johnny Hazzard comes back down to earth and leaves before the guys wake up.

The same kind of fantasy sequence transpires when Johnny winds up in the shower room (what no security?) and gazes longingly at firefighters Jeremy Bilding & Rod Daily as they clean up. Of course anyone would fantasize white watching the water cascading over their hot bods & soapy muscles and butt-crack and that's what Johnny Hazzard does. In his fantasy the two guys start in on each other in the shower, sucking & fucking with Rod Daily taking Jeremy Bilding's cock every which way as they move from the showers to the locker room bench. Daily & Bilding have the same sleek, muscular bodies and fit together physically so it's nice to see them look like they connect chemistry-wise too.
Of course Johnny Hazzard snaps out of his sexy day dream and runs unto the big guns--Matthew Rush & Mitchell Rock. Johnny acts very casual around these two muscular fireman and asks if he can help out around the firehouse and they tell him he can help wash the firetrucks. Actually Matthew Rush does most of the talking. You see Mitchell Rock rarely, if at all, opens his mouth in his work so his one line of dialog here is pretty surprising. While he has a deep voice, he's still pretty soft spoken and we could barely hear him. We know this has a tendency to give him a mystique but we think it's about time for him to speak more in his flicks.
Johnny goes with Rush & Rock to where newcomers Drew Cutler & Landon Conrad are washing the truck and before he can join in he slips off into another sex fantasy. In this one Drew Cutler (in his boxer briefs) & Landon Conrad (in his jock strap) start washing each other, getting all sick and soapy, kissing, and rubbing their bulging wet crotches together. Drew goes down on handsome and hung Landon Landon Conrad doesn't just stand there getting a blow job--he grabs Drew Cutler by the back of the neck and shoves his thick cock down his throat. Matthew Rush & Mitchell Rock pop into the scene and they get stripped down & felt up by their co-workers and a hot four-way ensues. This time Johnny Hazzard imagines himself into the scene which is marked by lots of switching up of sex roles and some very vocal turns. Credit Matthew Rush for bringing up the energy level and volume---besides he looks awfully hot in his goatee. And when he's pounding muscular Mitchell Rock--WOOF. Of course Johnny Hazzard wakes up after he shoots his load & happily joins the rest of the crew.

There's a "two weeks later" epilogue that features a cryptic twist that calls into question exactly what is going on with Johnny Hazzard. Rather than discus it here, we'll let you decide what's going on here.
As we mentioned we were impressed with the way director Chi Chi LaRue tells the story here with a minimum of dialog and well-thought out visuals. By now Chi Chi & Johnny Hazzard have worked enough together to be in perfect sync and it shows--Hazzard is right at home as the star without having to resort to any scene stealing. The same can be said for Jeremy Bilding & Rod Daily. As for Matthew Rush it's good to see him with the gusto we're accustomed to seeing. He's good as an actor and dynamic as a performer--a perfect combo. As we mentioned we still would like to see Mitchell Rock with more dialog but we have a feeling that his picture perfect body will suffice for many viewers. We'll still need to see more of the other newcomers to determine how we feel about them---except one. That would be Landon Conrad whose square jawed good looks and amazing body are punctuated with an interesting intensity --both in looks and in performance. We see star potential here.
