The Focus Is On Focus/Refocus
This past weekend we watched this year's Raging Stallion two-part opus Focus/Refocus and we'll be reviewing it within the next few days---after we view all the extra material (three more discs to be exact). What we can tell you is that Raging Stallion has struck gold again with movie. Before it came out it was referred to as "porn noir" and we think that suits it well. We could also call it a sex thriller. Focus/Refocus also has a "film within a film" thing going on, blurring a few lines along the way. In some ways Focus/Refocus is an attempt by the porn industry to hold a mirror to itself and its fans. It's a fairly complex film, with some very interesting visuals & nifty touches as well as featuring some of the hottest sex scenes of the year. Yes, there's controversy and it has many corpses along the way but it's not the gore fest that made last year's To The Last Man a hot topic. That said there's still a purposefully creepy, semi-disturbing tone to the flick that works well in contrast to the hot sex.
But we're getting ahead of ourselves. We've got some more discs to watch....
