A Night With Kathy Griffin
Any time you get a chance to see Kathy Griffin perform you're in for a treat but seeing her this holiday weekend was especially awesome. She simply was at her ultimate best and played to huge & very receptive crowds at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Friday & Saturday. If you get a chance to see her during her current run of appearances (you can check her schedule here) we highly recommend you go. If you love Kathy's outrageous humor you will not be disappointed one iota. In fact you'll probably think that this current show is one of her best---because it is.
You would have to try very hard not to love Kathy Griffin because she really is one of us---she considers herself a gay man in a woman's body and she thinks of it as a honor. She appreciates the same things as her "gays" do and stays on top of it all. Of course she loves to bring up current events in the entertainment world, TV shows, celebrities and put her distinctive spin on them. But it's all very up-to-the minute. For example this time she mentioned the Tiger Woods' "car accident" story which will probably have blown over by the time you see her. She also brought up Oprah's upcoming departure, Whitney Houston's strange TV appearances, AMA AWards, the ludicrous Sarah Palin, etc. She is so quick-witted that something could happen hours before a show and she's incorporate into her show.
Even if there was little celebrity news or gossip going on to talk about (yeah, right) Kathy Griffin would have enough stories about her own experiences and run-ins with celebrities. She does seem to be in the right places at the right time (or wrong, depending on the kind of stories that result). Only Kathy Griffin could wind up at a formal dinner party and get seated with Sharon Stone and be blessed with so much comedy material. Who else but Kathy Griffin would be unable to get into a prestigious women's conference and still manage to get in thanks to Paula Deen who brought her as a guest? And when she was asked to leave this event who else but a power gay would step in and save the day? This could all only happen to Kathy Griffin.
There was good news at the show too. Kathy Griffin let the audience know she's going to be back co-hosting the New Year's Eve celebration on CNN with Anderson Cooper. And yes, My Life On The D-List will be back and she's already got stuff planned for it. Yep, we love Kathy Griffin and hope that somehow she's able to host another gay porn awards show. After all, she IS a power gay.
