Newcomer Alert: Ridge Kane
You've heard us go on and on about all the rising stars & newcomers that have appeared during the year, but today we're spotlighting someone who is so new that you haven't even seen him in action yet! His name is Ridge Kane and though you won't see his debut until early 2010, he's someone that we think you'll be talking about in the coming year. He's one of the featured players in the just-wrapped Mustang flick Adrenaline directed by Leif Gobo & Steve Cruz and will no doubt join all the other great "discoveries" who the directors have cast in their flicks.
Fortunately we didn't have to do a ton of research on Ridge Kane because this friendly, handsome & well-built star was enthused by our interest in him and pleased to provide us with his fascinating backstory for this blog. Sexy performers and nice guys like Ridge Kane usually become stars on their own merits but we're still happy to give this one a boost. Besides this gave us a nice perspective on what happens when things go right for performers who go about things in the right way.
Believe it or not, being involved with porn wasn't something that was on the mind of Ridge Kane until a little more than a year ago. He got interested because he was dating someone in the biz and was
motivated him to get into get into great shape with the idea of possibly submitting his photos. Although things didn't work out in the relationship Ridge Kane continued to push himself harder to get into shape. Ridge Kane met and dated another well-known star Jesse Santana who supported him in his efforts and introduced him to Howard from Fabscout who signed up the newcomer. Of course they're no longer dating but Kane & Santana remain good friends.
During the past summer Ridge Kane felt confident enough about his body to do a photo-shoot for Leather Master and appear in a series of ads the company was running. As you can see the pics turned out really well and Kane used them to submit to studios for consideration. What we noticed about the pics is a look of real self-confidence and Ridge Kane attributes that to his close friend Scott Tanner. Kane was effusive in his praise of Tanner saying that " say ... without him, I don't think I would be where I am today. He is a great guy and an awesome friend. He has given me AMAZING advice in this industry on what to do and not what to do....and lets just say that everything he has told me to do has been right on the dot!"
Then came the aforementioned Mustang film Adrenaline and when Ridge Kane found out that he was going to be in it, he was "totally stoked. I not only love Mustang Studios, it's one of my favorite studios to watch!" When Kane learned that Steve Cruz & Leif Gobo would be directing he was even more excited or as he more colorfully stated "... I almost blew a load on myself." We don't know if Steve Cruz was aware of this but he happened to be Ridge Kane's all time favorite model on film. Thus the newcomer was doubly nervous----being on the set with his "porn crush" and it being his first film. Fortunately there was Leif Gobo on hand. Ridge also mentioned to us "how amazing it was to work side by side with Leif Gobo. Being around him made it easy and fun to do my job!"
As it turns out when Ridge Kane actually got to the studio and had his stills shot, his nerves calmed down and he "worked it out". According to Kane the photographer was "floored" when he found out that this was his first film because he looked like he had been doing this for years.
As we've mentioned before Ridge Kane was teamed with sexy star Tommy Defendi and the scene apparently worked out great. While Ridge conveys a sense of self-confidence he's also refreshingly modest in the way he described his day of shooting to us. According to him he "worked as best as I could with my scene partner Tommy Defendi who btw, is the most amazing partner to work with!" Our experience has been that it takes two amazing guys to create a great scene so it didn't come as a surprise to us to learn from Kane that Leif & Gobo paused during production to compliment him as a "natural" and that they were pleased to have him for the movie.
You might not think it from the pics but Ridge Kane also told us that he was characterized by the cast and crew as "the guy who is funny and makes everyone laugh. To me I tried to ease the tension and make it fun. Cause when you have fun, it shows in your performance.." We couldn't agree more.
Obviously we'll have to wait to see after Adrenaline is released to find out what's next filmwise for Ridge Kane but we can tell you he's ready for it. He's also going to school training in the health care field and graduates next summer. He's planning on moving to California for his degree whether or not he continues to do adult films--although location certainly helps.
We asked Ridge Kane about his interests and again we were struck by his refreshingly normal answer---he likes spending time with friends, having fun, movie nights, dancing. He referred to himself as " just a real down to earth kinda guy" and we couldn't agree more, except to add in "sexy". You'll probably be saying the same thing very soon.
