News Round-Up: Star Power
Rising stars and talented newcomers always provide us with plenty to talk about, but nothing beats star power for giving us blog entries that almost write themselves. This time out we've got several tidbits of news about some familiar faces and some interesting & surprising developments.
First, the not-so good news at least from the point of view of a fan. Jason Ridge has retired. Although he's been hinting at his quitting the biz for awhile now, Jason made it official on his blog a few days ago. The award-winning star is one of our faves and we're sorry to see him hang it up. Yes, its true that he's left the door open slightly for a possible return but from the tone of his blog it seems that option is not uppermost in his mind for now. We wish him well in his next adventure, whatever it may be. Jason Ridge was definitely one of the more interesting of modern adult performers and he turned in some classic and memorable performances in his career. In recent years he turned his attention to his own company Ridgeline Films which produced three well-received and nominated films. Earlier this year the company officially folded and this seemed to foreshadow Ridge's decision. Naturally we'll keep you posted on this one.
Recently Brent Corrigan was on the syndicated radio show Loveline with Dr Drew Pinsky. We caught the last part of the show and from what we heard Corrigan was very impressive --not just in presenting himself but in answering questions from callers AND Dr Drew. You can see a portion of the video interview at the site or become a premium member and hear the podcast of the show. Incidentally Dr Drew and Loveline has been a mixed bag over the years when it comes to gay issues but the good doctor has been surprising us lately. First, he was respectful towards Corrigan and he recently came out strongly in favor of same-sex marriage. Pretty damn awesome. Oh, and one more thing about Brent Corrigan--he's been added to Diesel Washington's "to do list".
Jake Cruise Media continues to attract some surprising names to its sites and thanks to the blogging and tweeting of director Jasun Mark and Jake Cruise himself we've been able to find out about these star turns before they air. We've already mentioned several of these stars before but here a few more that have appeared or will in the near future:
--Last week Straight Guys For Gay Eyes featured Marco Rivera and both porn & mainstream media picked up on it. Marco previous appeared as Rico on MTV's I Love New York and it was a major coup for the Jake to get him on the site.
--Superstar Nick Capra has his own site (NickCapra.com, naturally) but recently he's found time for at least two videos at Cocksure Men. In one he's paired up with John Magnum , the other has him matched up with Colby Keller. So as you can tell we're talking major totally inches for these videos. Jasun told us that the chemistry between these guys was so hot that the videos practically directed themselves.
We don't know if Jake Cruise and company read our blog or not, but since he's had site owners like Nick Capra & Zeb Atlas appear, may we suggest Brent Everett? He'd be a perfect addition.-
