Tackle: The Review

We love the idea of sports-themed gay porn flicks but they sometimes are disappointing for the simple fact that they can be unconvincing. It doesn't matter if a film has realistic-looking athletic gear and uniforms if the performers don't look authentic IN the gear. It gets unintentionally humorous. With this in mind Jet Set took a big risk with Tackle by making it an ultra-butch football-themed movie and casting it with many guys who you wouldn't think could fit into the theme. However the risk really paid off and we were very satisfied with Tackle.

Director Chris Steele doesn't waste any time making his case. Tackle starts right off with a real-looking football scrimmage followed by a locker room meeting with the coach and his team. Marcus Steele is pitch-perfect as the coach with a Southern drawl who gives the team a pep talk. As he does, he goes over the list of his players, a nifty way of working the credits into the scene.

Coach Steele announces that Jesse Santana will be the quarterback which doesn't sit too well with some of the jealous also-rans. Adam Campbell wanted to be the starter so Benjamin Bradley tells him that he'll take Santana out--for a price. If Bradley succeeds Campbell gives up his ass to him. So, Bradley lures Santana him into a hot flip-flop fuck in the locker room complete with hot kissing and seemingly genuine passion. Jesse lets down his guard and gets pushed over, literally, on the floor & sprains his ankle. Jesse Santana is effective as the naive jock while Benjamin Bradley gets away from his sweet, pretty boy image as the butch and nasty fucker he is here.

Later at a team kegger the rest of the team gets smashed and you know what that means--the inhibitions fall away and guys get it on with each other. The first to do it are Blu Kennedy & Josh Griffin who start off alone on the locker room bench, Kennedy blowing his big beefy bud. In other films you'd see this kind of scene play out where Griffin would flip Kennedy over on the bench & top him hard with no one catching them in the act. Not so here in Tackle. Luke Cassidy enters the scene and starts blowing Blu Kennedy and David Dakota saunters in to find this oral daisy chain and gets in on the action. The four get into an interesting configuration of bodies and just when you're waiting for someone to get gang-banged Adam Campbell enters the locker room where he becomes the FIFTH character in this suck-a-thon. The scene gets hardcore big time and two of the players in this tender scene of male bonding become the fuck toys for the rest. Director Chris Steele directs this one perfectly, making the whole scene very exciting---other directors who do orgies in films might want to watch this one to see how it should be done. It worked for us and we aren't big on these kinds of scenes.

The following scene is a bit more "scaled down" but it's very hot in a completely different way. Coach Marcus Steele is on the phone with the university president trying to convince his superior that his team is going to do well. While he's on phone, Steele is distracted by water boy Conner O'Reily working his ass for the coach in the next room. Steele can barely contain himself while watching Conner's teasing through the blinds and when he gets off the phone he reprimands the water boy. Marcus Steele literally spanks O'Reily
and makes him blow him before he takes his ass every which way he can. We might argue that Marcus Steele "steals" this movie with this scene---his acting is impeccable and he's a verbal sex machine. As the domineering & dominant coach he was very well cast here and he seems to relish the role.

Back in the dorm Benjamin Bradley tells Adam Campbell that their plan worked, but that now Campbell has to pay off the bet. Campbell doesn't protest too much and for his first bottoming scene in a flick he does pretty well. Fortunately the skills of Benjamin Bradley shine and he's able to compensate for his scene partner's lack of experience.

Obviously the sex is the most important thing in a porn flick but other elements have to come together for it to work well. We're talking acting, videography, even the sets (the real sports facility is especially effective). As we mentioned Chris Steele skillfully handles all of this well in Tackle and makes this a surprisingly memorable film.
