Hot Books For Chilly Nights

A few weeks ago we told you about this year's very hot 2010 calendars (see It's Calendar Time!) and this time want to tell you about some hot books available now & in the near future. Some are related to the calendars we recently listed, a few are titles that we've mentioned before, and we're almost certain that almost all of them will appeal to many of your tastes.
One book that's been out for awhile is also one that you may not have seen in your neck of the woods because it's independently produced. It's Rough Gods by photographer Michael Alago and it features beautiful pictures of some of the sexiest & most masculine men around. It's a stunning collection and we were reminded about it when we saw some of Alago's recent pics taken at the Folsom Street Fair. Rough Gods features all types of hot guys including a few adult stars such as cover man (and our Twitter bud) Samuel Colt. By all means check out the Rough Gods website where you can see samples of Alago's work as well as info on how & where you can purchase the book.

Australian photographer Pedro Virgil has new book coming out soon titled Gods of Football, a sequel of sorts to last year's Gods of Sport which celebrated the male athlete. This year's book features more sexy pics but with a focus on the sport of football (or American soccer). You might have seen Virgil's work before in DNA Magazine as well advertising for Diesel, Rolex, and more. Gods of Football will probably make soccer fans of you yet.
Red is the upcoming photography book featuring the work of Dylan Rosser whose gorgeous studies of the male physique are probably very familiar to you--last year his first book X-Posed was published. Rosser also has a membership website The Male Form where you can see tons of models & thousands of images including brand new works. By the way, Rosser has photographed many of our personal faves including Samuel Colt, Jakub Stefano, and more. As for the new book Red you've probably guessed that it's a scarlet-themed collection of photos (check out The Male Form site for details)

For the last several years Bruno Gmunder has been publishing photo books featuring the models from super-hot website Men at Play and this year is no exception. Ready To Play (the title refers to a tagline from the site) features newest exclusive Levi Poulter, the official "Face of Men At Play", on the cover and no doubt the book features many of the exceptional international models that have appeared this past year.
As for other international models both Bel Ami & Eurocreme are represented by two new books. Private Moments is actually a ground breaker. Philadelphia photographer Howard Roffman is known for his male nude photography and has had several books published. This new book marks the first time he has had color photos published and for the occasion he has turned camera to the Bel Ami studs. Nastyboys is the name of the new book feature the Brit twinks of Eurocreme. We're not talking cutesy pics here because as the title suggests the models from this company are of the "cocky" variety.

Philippino photographer Lope Navo also specializes in the male form and his work has also been featured in DNA and other magazines and ads. His upcoming book Stark is his first collection.
Enjoy is also the first collection featuring the work of Brazilian-Italian partners Sandro Mantovani & Maykson Ribet, who have worked with the fashion industry. These guys are only in their early twenties and have compiled five years worth of material for their book. You'll find male erotica, fetish, & fashion all in one book.

Ultimate Falcon is a newly released biggie. It's over 400 pages of photos covering over 35 years of the legendary company that has produced superstars from the very beginning. While it's a story about the studio, it can also be viewed in gay historical context.
Gay erotica history can also be seen in two other books Bob's World & American Hunks. Recently released Bob's World features the color photography of Bob Mizer whose Athletic Model Guild studio was legendary for almost 50 years. He published the first gay magazine Physique Pictorial which earned him the unofficial nickname of the Hugh Hefner of gay porn. Included in the book is a one-hour DVD telling the history of Mizer & his studio. The upcoming book American Hunks is a more broad-based book exploring the muscular male in pop culture from 1860 to 1970. While it isn't specifically about gay erotica many will recognize the inspirations for many gay artists & photographers.

Modern gay erotica can be seen in Men: Twenty-Five Years In Photography. Men Magazine celebrates its 25 year history with this collection of photos from the days when it was known as Advocate Men through today. This upcoming book features Kevin Falk on the cover and many faces (and bodies) familiar to those who have followed male erotica over the past two decades.
Finally we wanted to remind you of two really awesome books that have come out the last year (and more) and are worth your while. The Big Penis Book is a huge but very reasonably priced book that really requires no description. It's actually a very insightful book about man's favorite organ and its role in male erotica over the years. Bites XXL is actually three books in one featuring the work of photographer Giovanni. Bites, Private Parts and Un*/Cut are compiled along with extra material into this super-hot book.
