Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays
We interrupt our regularly scheduled blog entries with some news about an important local event coming up here in LA. On September 12 Brian Schnipper & The Attic Theatre will present Standing On Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, a benefit for the HRC. It's being staged at the El Portal Theatre in North and will feature an entire evening of readings of 12 short plays, all written by different authors and all with the theme of gay marriage. It's a benefit "inspired by & in reaction to Prop 8".
Standing On Ceremony features an all-star line-up of actors and performers who are donating their time to this worthy cause. Miss Coco Peru will be hosting the gala event which includes an after-party patterned after a wedding reception with champagne and cake. Scheduled to appear will be Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Jason Alexander, Hamish Linklater, Lisa Edelstein, Peter Paige, Timothy Olyphant, Zachary Quinto, Robert Gant, Dan Lauria, Jillian Armenante, Alison Angrim, Clark Gregg, and more to be announced.
Writers contributing their works will be Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Constance Congdon, Marcus Gardley, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Albert Innaurato, Christopher Kyle, Wendy MacLeod, Terrence McNally, Susan Miller, Kira Obolensky and Jose Rivera.
