Taken: The Review

Taken is one of those videos that defies description because it simply defies conventional gay porn movie-making. It's as avant-garde as gay porn can be without being inaccessible even though it comes dangerously close to being disturbing. That's the beauty of Chi Chi LaRue's direction--it draws you in with strangely hypnotic elements and goes right to the edge before it pulls back. Ultimately it's one very hot, all-star sex epic that should become a classic.
If we were to compare Taken to any previous movie it would be to Chi Chi's earlier all-sex flick Link: The Evolution. The extra-length Link V used just about every kinky device you could think of and featured an amazingly huge all-star cast. Taken is also an extra long sextravaganza clocking in an over four hours and featuring a cast of eighteen hot stars. The difference is that there is a basic plot/premise that is used to bookend the action.

Essentially Taken is like an Alice In Wonderland type sex odyssey for star Philip Aubrey. You first see him sitting in front of his computer watching a leather clad Adam Killian gyrating seductively spurring Aubrey to rub his crotch and remove his belt. However blond lad Aubrey doesn't get naked--- wraps his belt around his neck and tightens it causing him to pass out (?). By the way, pay attention to this kinky theme of choking as erotic stimulation because it pops up through the flick.
This opening sequence alone evokes Vanilla Sky and The Matrix with Depeche Mode style music as an accompaniment and should give you a pretty clear idea that this is one unconventional movie. In a flash of light Philip Aubrey is in the strange realm, face to face with Adam Killian who continues to perform for his now jock-strap clad voyeur. However Killian adds a little extra to his sex show including a variety of objects that he proceeds to insert into himself before he finally gets off.

Philip Aubrey continues to move through this world of many dark rooms coming upon a three-way between Johnny Hazzard, Derek Da Silva, & Zane Jacobs. Hazzard is the sex toy for Da Silva & Jacobs who have such similar looks that you'd think were related. Eventually Hazzard gets to be the meat in the sandwich as Aubrey looks on. You're led to believe that this mini daisy chain is going to end the scene but it segues into something far more kinky. Hazzard gets flogged relentlessly by Da Silva, then is tied up and gets hot wax poured all over is body. Da Silva & Jacobs literally coat Hazzard with light green & blood-red wax until he looks like a kinky Christmas decoration. Apparently these two brutes love the holidays because they proceed to jack off at the sight of poor Johnny.
Another flash of light and Aubrey finds himself in a cage watching sexy shadows on the wall until the towering figure of Diesel Washington appears. Washington circles the cage looking down at Aubrey with menacing sexual domination. In another corner of the room Zack Jamison is going down on Lucas Knowles while Diesel takes command of Aubrey. Eventually Diesel has control of all three of the guys and the entire scene. Here Taken goes into a whole other direction, going from a relatively quiet & moody set piece to an all-out high-energy sex romp with dialog and verbal outbursts. You can thank Diesel Washington for this scene because he goes all out for it and in the process gets the other guys to follow suit. There's no one who can bellow out orders like Diesel Washington and go hardcore on his sex partners while keeping it passionate. Diesel also throws in a new self-created sexual position into the mix for added excitement and participates in the wilder & wetter elements found in the director's cut. No two ways about it--Diesel Washington OWNS this scene with his dynamic performance.

Things calm down in the next scene with Aubrey looking on as dreamy couple Blake Riley & David Taylor have one steamy hot encounter. There's lots of chemistry & romantic energy here between these two and aside from a little kink at the end it's probably the most down-to-earth scene in the movie. Frankly, Riley & Taylor are of the "pretty boy" variety so we didn't expect them to get all kinky beyond their leather attire.
Another flash of light and Aubrey finds himself collared and led around on a leash by Adam Killian passing by a caged Shane Risk. Outside the cage are Tyler Saint, Josh West, Dominic Pacifico and Chad Manning who tease the captured stud before taking him out to service them. An oral buffet turns into all-out orgy and there is so much partner-switching you may have trouble keeping track. When Aubrey re-enters the picture he also joins in the fun. It all winds up being an interesting who's topping who before Shane Risk emerges as the ultimate sex toy.

By now Adam Killian seems to have full possession of Philip Aubrey's attention leading up to the biggest scene of the movie. It starts out with Luke Cassidy begging to go down on Jeremy Bilding who obliges before going down on Mitchell Rock who has been watching the whole thing. Adam Killian and Phillip Aubrey enter the picture and start kissing before Aubrey goes down on Killian as he watches the other guys. Cassidy then joins Aubrey in servicing Killian while everybody watches each other. Then as in the previous scene there's lots of passionate flip-flop sex where everyone gets a chance to show off. Eventually Mitchell Rock is the center of attention getting plugged with a rather large clear dildo by Adam Killian. We then get one of those massive group cum shots that isn't as easy to pull off as you might think.
As for the ending it comes full circle to the semi-controversial beginning, both story wise & stylistically. If you were at all confused by what exactly was going on at the beginning you won't be by the time you reach the end. It's got a shock factor too that's worth waiting for.
There is much that stands out in Taken. First of all is the direction which allows the performers to open up and be as comfortable as possible. Nothing seems forced or insincere. Then there is the videography. Adam Killian & Hue Wilde work together to give the film a cohesive look. It's shot beautifully & intimately without being obtrusive. Adam Killian also deserves kudos for giving it his all in front of the camera. He brings varied experiences to the film and lets them shine.

As for the other performers in Taken there are several standouts. First is the aforementioned performance of Diesel Washington. Whether or not you're into his rough & tough style it's undeniable that he gives it 100% and never does a walk through. As always Johnny Hazzard & Blake Riley take whatever is thrown their way and adapt beautifully. David Taylor is beautiful to look at and we see good things coming as he grows more comfortable on camera. Mitchell Rock has been an enigma to us but we're beginning to see in this film that he's got much more depth as a performer than we imagined. Then there's Philip Aubrey who has the most screen time and has a lot to do. Fortunately he does it all well. He's got the look and attitude of blond innocence which creates a good contrast with his character's inner kink and it has more shock potential. In addition he never overly sleazes it up nor does he act like a babe in the woods.
