Men Of Israel Is THE Big Hit of The Year!
More than a week ago we mentioned that Michael Lucas' Men Of Israel was getting a lot of press from the gay AND mainstream media (see Everyone's Talking About Men Of Israel) and since then the buzz has only increased. At least a few people we know who haven't seen many porn movies lately rented it and loved it. Other friends who know nothing about the biz heard about it and were planning to see it.
The other shoe dropped when we read one of Diesel Washington's blog posts wherein he
enthusiastically praised Men Of Israel. Why is this a big deal? Without going into gossipy details let's just say that Diesel Washington & Michael Lucas haven't exactly seen eye to eye on things over the past couple years. That said, Diesel used his blog to say glowing things about Men Of Israel in every way--from the cinematography to the hot men to their performances and yes, to the direction.
After all this we assumed that Men Of Israel was a hit. And you know what? We were right. We received an e-mail from the GayDVD.com manager who said the following: "I have never personally introduced one of our DVD's, but Men Of Israel has blown us away! Its unprecedented popularity sees it the fastest selling DVD in the sites history, and it's nearly topping our all time best sellers list after only 1 week.."
Naturally we take any praise from a DVD distributor with a grain of salt because after all they're in the business of promoting movies. Nevertheless the fact that we have NEVER received an e-mail like this before, combined with the press and the critical praise from industry people, fans, and new viewers tells us that the success of Men Of Israel is no fluke.
