Ringside: The Review

In the interest of catching up with our reviews, periodically we'll be posting mini-reviews of current and recent releases. There may be a few we'll miss along the way but our goal is to hit the major releases in as timely a manner as possible.
This time we take a look at the newest Falcon release Ringside. For all intents and purposes this video belongs to Erik Rhodes. It could be the change in location (it was shot in Prague), the fresh cast of Euro-studs, the premise, or simply changes in his personal life. Whatever the reason Erik Rhodes turns in a very dynamic and passionate performance. His star status is back in full force. In fact his scene with Francois Sagat is one of his best ever (with or without the "director's cut" fetish sequence). Overall if you didn't know any better you'd think this was Erik Rhodes' first film.
As the title implies Ringside is set in a boxing gym but the action has more to do with post-workout-sex than the actual work out. There are five scenes featuring an international cast including adult superstar Francois Sagat and all are given a chance to shine in spite of this being an Erik Rhodes star vehicle (he appears in 3 of 5 scenes). That's because Rhodes capably dominates the movie in on-camera time but doesn't overly dominate the action.
The two scenes in Ringside without Rhodes are quite good too. The second scene is set in a weight room and stars Patrik Staw & Mario Cooper. If you need proof that weight-training is also good for the libido this scene should do the trick. In scene four hitting the heavy bag has the same effect on sweaty studs Steven Ward & Olin Green who are exhausted from their workout but not too tired to get it on.

As we mentioned Erik Rhodes gets three scenes in Ringside and Rhodes' fans will appreciate that his scenes begin and end the flick while the key scene is smack in the middles. Rhodes' plays a trainer who demands physical discipline from his athletes as well as sexual rewards. In the first scene he puts Tomas Friedl & Paolo Verdi to the test servicing him every way possible. In the fifth scene Rhodes is still the man in charge, orchestrating an orgy with himself as the center of attention. It features Nathan Eclaire, Tomas Friedl, Peter Mayer, & Lucky Taylor and while each guy is very hot it's hard to single out any of the guys in particular.
As for the highlight scene in the middle Erik Rhodes & Francois Sagat are boxing and Rhodes is knocked out. When he comes to, Sagat is kissing him and he reciprocates. They stay in the middle of the ring as they move on to mutual sucking and then Rhodes tops Sagat. In the regular movie version Sagat then tops the eager Rhodes and the two wind up next to each other on the mat whacking off. In the full scene (available as a download) before Francois Sagat tops Erik Rhodes he primes him by fisting him--a first for Rhodes. It's not a scene for everyone but Sagat & Rhodes make it as palatable as possible for those who haven't seen this kind of thing before.
As we mentioned Ringside is a treat for Erik Rhodes' fans but we came away with a new appreciation for the star. It's true that this well-directed Falcon flick would be good with someone else in Erik Rhodes' place but he makes it noticeably better and more memorable.
