Half-Year In Review

Logan McCree    Trent Davis                                     Paul Wagner                                          Diesel Washington

We've just passed the half-way point of 2009 and looking back it's been a pretty full year. With that in mind we'll be looking back over the past six months--the industry news, the new faces that have emerged, those that have departed, etc. It's interesting to see those things that truly mattered and were significant as well as those things that surprisingly were not. In the next few days we'll be devoting several blog entries to this mini-retrospective.

In the beginning of the year we took a look at people and sites to watch out for (What's Ahead in 2009) and admittedly we didn't go too far out on a limb. We mentioned guys like Matthew Rush, Ty Colt, Vince Ferelli, Marco Blaze and Jeremy Bilding who were either well established or on their way. So at this half-way point it's safe to say that their current star status will carry on through the end of the year at the very least.

The two surprises from this list have turned out to be Adam Killian & Diesel Washington. We hoped that Killian would pursue more on-camera work and we were taken aback that he did just that. His appearances in The Trainer & Taken  were not only noteworthy, they wound up getting him on the cover of the two DVDs! We expected superstar Diesel Washington to do more work (he too was in Taken)and when he finally got recognition with two Grabby awards, we figured that more good news was on the way. However, Diesel shocked everyone by retiring from films. His blog pretty much explained why and he's still continuing with the blog, but frankly we are still disappointed.

The other big surprise came from someone who wasn't on our "guys to look out for " list but should have been---David Taylor. This super-hot & handsome guy has been a favorite of ours since he first debuted and we should have known that he'd be a breakout performer in 2009. However, we didn't expect him to get that Men Magazine spread and didn't have a clue he'd wind up as a Raging Stallion exclusive with some high profile roles in Menace, Port of Entry and the upcoming all-star blockbuster The Visitor.

Then there are those newcomers that weren't on our lists and hadn't done anything to speak of in 2008 but have become very buzzworthy during the first six months of 2009. It's likely they'll remain so through the rest of the year and just as likely there will be more who'll join them on the "hot list". Here's our current 2009 hot list of performers which includes the newcomers and a few others who have become or continue to be hot, with links to related blog posts:
