XXX: The Review
When Falcon released two key scenes from its Mustang flick XXX back in April we jumped at the chance to download them (as part of the site's "Pick A Scene" option), watch them, and review them (see XXX Is XXXtra Hot). We may been overly eager in giving a glowing review before we saw the whole movie, but now that we've seen XXX in its entirety we can say our preliminary praise was very well-founded. XXX is flat-out amazing in both content and style.
We're not exaggerating when he say that Steve Cruz & Leif Gobo are redefining the concept of "all-sex" flicks in their collaborations for Mustang. The "RGB" color series (Blue Movie, Red Light, and the upcoming Green Door) prove that a minute amount of story combined with an effective, visually thematic use of color and a very attractive cast can make for a memorable viewing.
With XXX Cruz & Gobo have challenged themselves to the utmost by stripping way the merest hint of a story or set-up and making a true "all-sex" video. In sharp contrast to the RGB series, everything except the actors is cast in darkness including the barest minimum of furniture & props. Surprisingly the lighting is not harsh and the performers aren't washed out. Instead, the performers have a warm glow which gives their scenes added depth and intimacy. This visual consistency is what makes XXX so cohesive in spite of the fact that is a series of completely unconnected vignettes. We've already reviewed the first scene featuring Arpad Miklos & Colby Keller but in the context of the entire video it makes a great introduction. After multiple viewings we are even more impressed with the growth of Keller as a performer. And that beard? WOOF! Speaking of that exclamation, if the word "woof" had never been used before in reference to a hot man, it would have started with Arpad Miklos. He can command a scene and top another guy forcefully and still be passionate.
We're not sure how much direction Steve Cruz gave to Race Cooper and Scott Alexander but before this second scene is halfway done you'll see that these two guys OWN it. They're both physically beautiful from head to toe and work this very well. It's simply an awesome give & take flip-flop scene with so much chemistry that you wonder how they an hold off as long as they do. Add to that some authentic verbal flourishes and you'll see a perfect representation of the pleasures of sex.
Cole Streets makes for the perfect sexy toy for Vinnie D'Angelo in scene three by taking orders, both implied and verbal, and enjoying every second. This is what happens when you get an eager bottom and a commanding top together. Each of these guys pushes the outside of the envelope just enough, testing each other to see who really is in control. What it turns into is a high-energy scene where both guys get off big time.
The final scene is again one we've previously reviewed and seeing it again without the intriguing bondage & fetish sequence may reduce the length of the scene but not its intensity. Scott Campbell works hard in this scene (literally) trying to take on Derek Da Silva's impressive size and he's rewarded for his efforts with some very hot teasing followed by some hard topping. This scene make lack the romantic passion found in a couple of the other scenes but these two performers make up for it with totally uninhibited sex.
It may seem like an overdone cliché but in the final evaluation of XXX is truly does have something for everyone. That there is this much variety in an all-sex film whose only gimmick is that there is no gimmick is another reason to celebrate Steve Cruz' decision to work behind the camera as well as in front of it.
