Grabby Winners: Diesel Washington

It's been a few days since the Grabby Awards and since then we've had a chance to see the awards presentation thanks to YouTube (those interested can see them here) and a gay blogger named Jim. Rather than make any comments on the entire awards show, we'll just the footage speak for itself. But we will be taking a few last looks at a few of the winners.

We start off with Diesel Washington. Yes, we are well aware that we've given him a great deal of blog attention already but his Grabby award-winning blog had so much richly detailed opinion that it sparked us again. One thing that Diesel Washington has said time after time is that he has created this rough, tough persona but he is different in person. We saw that for ourselves when he accepted his two awards on Grabby night.  First of all, the guy is gigantic and towered above everyone. That said he was grateful and humble by his honors while accepting.

On his blog Diesel Washington was much more verbose about his wins and what the honor of Performer of the Year means to him and it's worth reading. It would do him a disservice if we were to quote or paraphrase him. He's rightfully proud of the honor and what it meant to him and men of color. We're also glad he brought up the other winners Black Balled 6 & Black Meat, White Heat because he verified our thoughts that these were good signs about diversity.

We also got a big kick out of his take on the other guys he met at the Grabbys. There were the guys he'd like to do it with, the guys he'd like to perform with, and those in-between. Again read the blog and you'll see that Diesel has ethical standards--he won't do it with a guy who is in relationship, gay or straight. Even those of you who don't like DW's frankness or self-promotion have to admit that's what a blog is (or should be) all about. The GRabby peoplethought so or they wouldn't have given him the award. We're also hoping industry folk take the time to read the blog and hire this guy. He's brought a lot to the table and will continue to in the future.
