News Round-Up

This coming Memorial Day Weekend the Grabby Awards and the International Mr Leather (IML) contest make their annual descent upon Chicago and there will be likely be news coming out of this little confluence aside from the announcement of winners. Fortunately we don't have to wait for the weekend because in the lead-up to it we've got some other news to report.

Steve Cruz has to be one of the busiest guys in the biz this year and it looks like he has no intention of slowing down. Thank goodness for that because his enthusiastic activity has resulted in lots of great product and the promise of even more. Steve & his real-life beau Bruno Bond recently took a working vacation in England where in addition to being special guests at the Hustlaball, he was scouting for new talent. By the way, one of our friends was in England at the same time and brought back some interesting local gay magazines. Talk about ultra slick & sexy. He showed us the ad for the Hustlaball and we found it interesting and very gratifying that in addition to Cruz & Bond, the other special guests were ALSO real-life couples--Francesco D'Macho & Damien Crosse and Logan MccRee & Vinnie D'Angelo.

In the meantime the Steve Cruz-directed Mustang flick XXX was released (we highly recommend this one!) as was
Menace from Raging Stallion, his first onscreen appearance with bf Bruno Bond. In addition, his upcoming Green Door is in post-production AND he's prepping his next hush-hush Mustang video (simply known as MVP 102 right now). Speaking of Green Door, his production blog starts on June 15. Steve is extremely happy with the cast here which includes Nash Lawler, newcomer Samuel Colt, and
Chad Manning.

A side note here: You'll recall that Chad Manning retired and then un-retired (de-retired?). Well according to his blog this second decision was reached thanks to a heartfelt pep talk from a fellow performer & director. Yes, you guessed it. It was Steve Cruz.

Not enough news? You can also see Steve Cruz and Bruno Bond on the cover of the Stockroom Men's Catalog (and inside)! Both guys will be at the "Leather Mart" at IML as well as attending the Grabbys. Even though it as been officially listed at the Grabbys site the "trophy studs" are going to be Bruno Bond, Vince Ferelli and TJ Hawke with a fourth as yet unnamed. Steve just announced that his interview with Leo Giamani will be appearing in the July issue of Unzipped Magazine. AND..this past weekend he was here in LA promoting Menace along with his co-stars.

                                                   -----------------------------------

Performer turned director. producer and co-head honcho at Jet Set Men Chris Steele is also a busy guy these days ad has become one of our favorite "tweeters" to follow on Twitter. This past weekend he posted a photo of two guys on Twitpic along with the words "Mystery Weekend: One just signed as a Jet Set Exclusive and one just bottomed...... : )" He invited fellow Twitterers to post their guesses. The answer? The newly signed exclusive is Hayden Stephens (aka Evan Grey & Seth Sweet) and the bottom is one of our faves Dean Phoenix! After being inducted into the GayVN Hall of Fame at the recent awards, we erroneously concluded he had retired once again. Thanks to Chris Steele he let us know this was not the case. By the way, the scene with Stephens & Phoenix will air later this summer online at Jet Set Men Straight Edge.

Chris Steele also tweeted that although he won't be attending the Grabbys, he will be at the Big Dick Society II: Dicktimized release party at Micky's on Thursday, May 28. It's part of the club's weekly "Cocktails With The Stars" event where special guests from the adult industry are in attendance. There will be free DVDs and an assortment of boys including Trevor Knight & Marcus Steele. By the way, for those not in the know, Micky's is a popular West Hollywood dance club that has recently re-opened after almost two years when a fire gutted the venue. "Cocktails With the Stars" was one of the club's signature events and was without a home until this year.
