Gay Geek Pride

Our pop culture geekery was in full flower yesterday thanks to a blog post by Diesel Washington
performance night on American Idoland a screening of Star Trek---which included pre- and post-screening group discussions about Heroes, Desperate Housewives, and comic books. Essentially, it was a day when we could celebrate our gay geek pride.

Although we thought about it we decided NOT to post a full-out review of Star Trek. Suffice to say, it's REALLY good--exciting, nostalgic, inventive, and ultimately very satisfying. To say any more or explain our praise we would have to reveal key elements to the movie --and that's not fair to the movie or to any filmgoers. It's best that you go in fresh and avoid reading anything that might spoil it for you. We CAN tell you it's a good crossover movie for Trekkies & non-Trekkies. And since Jack Manly is primarily focused on male eye candy we can tell you there's a bit of that too.

The other thing that had us giddy yesterday were the new photos that superstar Diesel Washington posted on his blog. He's been doing his own thematic photo-shoots (self-portraits), showing off his many sides and giving fans a glimpse into the world of Diesel Washington. Among the sexy sets of pics is one that gave us particular enjoyment. You see Diesel is a comics fan so he used his comics as "props". Of course the photos are super-sexy but it was also awesome to read his thoughts on comic books and the pleasure we all get from them. Check out the blog and read what he thinks about "comic nerds"!

After the screening it was time to watch American Idol and see "classic rock night". We're writing this BEFORE the results show, so we're hoping that Adam Lambert fans didn't take him for granted like last week. Simply stated--he was a rock star last night. And an openly gay one at that! Now on to the results.
