The Grabbys: A Look Ahead Part 2

This week we take a further look at the Grabby Awards nominees which are coming up on Memorial Day Weekend in Chicago. As we mentioned previously The Grabby Awards are broken down into several divisions: Special Awards (announced at the show), Production Awards, Performer Awards, Individual Scene Awards, and Genre Awards. We covered Production Awards last time so now it's on to the second grouping:

PERFORMER AWARDS

 Best Pornstar Website:

This is totally confusing. The type of content on the nominated sites is all over the map so comparing them is next to impossible. There are membership sites with video content (which seem to have the advantage), those that are subsidiaries of studios, a blog site or two, etc. It's obvious to us that personality will triumph over content.

 Best Pornstar Blog
Now this category we understand, but again what are the criteria for judging?  Whether or not you agree with or are put off by these blogs, some of the porn stars put in a lot of effort into them and that's hard to argue with. Among our personal faves are Diesel Washington, Steve Cruz, Wolf Hudson, and Jason Ridge.

 Hottest Cock
Talk about a subjective category. Obviously "looks" and "size" are a determining factor here but as we've all seen a car is only as good as its driver. Each of the guys in this category deserve to be here (as do their cocks) but we still remain undecided. Hmm, we'd go for the "blind taste test" if there was one.

 Best Versatile Performer
This one is a lot harder than it would be if it were best top or bottom. But the guys here do both roles equally well--or should. Our faves here are Jack Deckard, Dean Flynn, and Ross Hurston. That said Chad Hunt, Wolf Hudson, and Blake Riley showed that they too can change roles and do it well.

 Best Newcomers (2 winners)
It seems every studio is represented here and we don't mind admitting that we couldn't predict a winner. We can tell you that we like the choices. We were instantly smitten with Ty Colt, Leo Giamani, Kyle King, and Jordan & Aden Jaric but all the others proved that they were no "one-hit wonders".

 Best Performers (2 winners)
When you look over the list of names on the list the thing to keep in mind is the movies they appeared in. Then try and imagine these movies without them. Yep, the good ones are irreplaceable. They don't just go through the notions--they act, they perform, and put in their own touches not found in the scripts. From our point of view those performers who stood out the most were Ricky Sinz, Steve Cruz, Scott Tanner, Wolf Hudson & Diesel Washington.  Diesel is way overdue and we'd be happy if he shared the award with any of the others. How neat it would be if buds Ricky & Diesel won.

 Best Supporting Actor

Once again it's hard to balance personal feelings & objectivity. In terms of the combination of acting and performing Vinnie D'Angelo (The Drifter), Tyler Saint (Home Invasion) Chad Hunt (Endgame) and Scott Tanner (To The Last Man) all stood out for us. There's also a sadness to the fact that Cole Ryder (Black Meat White Heat) is getting a posthumous nomination.

 Best Actor
As with the previous category you can't have acting without performing and vice-versa. Out favorites here are Trevor Knight (Endgame), Logan McCree (The Drifter) and Ricky Sinz (To The Last Man) but it's likely that Ricky will win if that To The Last Man momentum is expected to occur.

Coming soon: the rest of the Grabbys recap.
