Slow Heat In A Texas Town: The Review
Fans of director Joe Gage can tell you many reasons why he's had such a long and illustrious career and that's the beauty of Slow Heat In A Texas Town---all the reasons are illustrated here. This recent Titan film has classic Joe Gage traits---an interesting but not overly obtrusive story, good photography, sexy performers, and hot sex scenes. And when we say hot sex scenes we mean those that start naturally and build intensity slowly towards a satisfying climax.
Slow Heat In A Texas Town starts out like many Joe Gage flicks---a voice-over narration that sets up the plot and continues to pop up throughout the film to explain what's happening next. The premise of Slow Heat In A Texas Town is simple. It takes place in small town Bartholomew, Texas where as in most gay porn films it's populated exclusively by men with overactive hormones and repressed desires. It's an interesting cross-section of horned up men---students, campers, and law enforcement who run into each other at the most convenient times. Here again is another reason to appreciate Slow Heat In A Texas Town---characters aren't restricted to one scene and wind up meeting up with other characters throughout. Let's put it this way----every actor gets plenty of screen time. Thankfully this seemingly sleepy town has a nice wilderness area with a secluded campground and a community college where these guys can all get off.
Because the plot of Slow Heat In A Texas Town is pretty loose Joe Gage uses a simple cinematic to keep the audience interested in the story--we don't know until well into the picture who the performer is that's narrating the story. Yes, we know he lives in the town, he attends the college and his dad is one of the police officers who patrols the campgrounds. With that in mind, we won't reveal the performer's identity either.
As we said the narrator states that his dad is an officer and has "issues". Apparently, this means he's sexually repressed he uses the campground as his sexual playground. Del Cobb portrays him as a bit of a cypher. In each of his two separate sexual encounters with a pair of sexually adventurous campers (Chad Manning & Colton Steele) he stares a lot at the guys, speaks in stilted sentences, and borders on just plain creepy. Fortunately his first encounter is with Colton Steele who delights in standing naked, wagging his erection fearlessly in front of the officer. Later the scene is replicated again with Chad Manning and in both scenes the pre-sex intensity is very strong and excellently filmed.
As we said before all the characters and the action in Slow Heat In A Texas Town are intertwined and in a complex and very satisfactory manner. Early on, janitor Steve Carlisle gets it on with shop teacher Steve O'Donnell, who is later revealed to be having an affair with officer Josh West. The teacher and the cop take turns on student Jackson Wild. Chad Manning & Colton Steele return for a three-way with a local student played by Cory Flint who later plays with his football player buddy Zane Jacobs in a pick-up truck. Jacobs in turn gets it from the football coach played by Nick Capra. Capra, along with school janitor Steve Carlisle and officer Josh West take turns on sexy Jackson Wild. Believe us, it all makes sense when you watch it.
Everyone is quite good here but we especially liked Jackson Wild, Nick Capra, Chad Manning & Colton Steele---and all for different reasons. Wild plays the semi-innocent but sexed up role very well and it's a shame to see him quit the biz. Capra plays the forceful top role so well and he is perfect for intensifying any scene. Manning shows a particular knack for conveying a lot with face and eyes when dialog is at a minimum. Finally, relative newcomer Steele is just plain sexy to look at and to watch. It's hard not to be attracted to a short hard-bodied cub with bedroom eyes, facial scruff and and seemingly dynamic sex drive.
Ultimately what makes Slow Heat In A Texas Town good is that it's memorable. As with any porn flick it's doesn't matter how much story or how many characters are used here. It's how it all comers together that's important. For a sex flick to be a true success it has to have potential for repeat viewing--and that includes all or parts of the flick.
