The Successes of Leo, Vince, Ricky, & Nash
We've often heard that if you do gay adult videos you can pretty much forget about achieving any kind of success in other fields. We've also been told that there really is no such thing as an overnight success that lasts in any field of endeavor. Naturally, both of these unwritten rules have had their share of exceptions over the years but it seemed that this week there were quite a few exceptions to both rules. And as for that rule about gay porn being a career-killer, this week the exceptions seemed to BE the rule.
You may recall the story of Paul Donahoe, the University of Nebraska champion wrestler who was ousted from the team when it was learned that he and one of his teammates had done videos for Frat Men. The school didn't show much tolerance towards Donahoe as though he had committed a felony. In typical fashion they also tried to demonize the wrestler with other anecdotes about his school behavior. Donahoe wanted to continue wrestling so rather than fight Nebraska, he transferred to Edinboro University in Pennsylvania where he has gotten the last laugh. He has a perfect 21-0 record and is ranked #1 in the nation in his 125lb weight class! Reportedly he aims to be the first two-time NCAA champ from two different schools. Incidentally the school and the coach overlooked his "mistake" in favor of his talent. Good show, Edinboro! Bad move, Nebraska--bet you feel stupid now eh? So who knows, maybe Paul Donahoe was motivated to succeed to overcome this trumped up scandal.

Ricky Sinz has been the type of porn star who doesn't actually fit into any type--so if anyone could break those rules it's him. In the same week where he was nominated for a GayVN acting award he was cast in non-porn movie, indie comedy feature My Guaranteed Student Loan. It's rare indeed when a porn actor makes a legit flick but it shouldn't come as any surprise to those who have followed Ricky Sinz' career. He has a natural acting ability and it adds a whole other layer to the films he appears in. Granted, the part in this new movie is a supporting role but Sinz is among a huge cast. My Guaranteed Student Loan stars Oscar winner Celeste Holm and comedienne Julie Brown and they are joined by one of the strangest casts you've ever scene. You've got to check out the site to see it for yourself. From the looks of it, it might even be a musical comedy.

Vince Ferelli became something of an overnight sensation when he seemed to come out of nowhere during the latter part of 2008 and wasted no time is taking offers at websites and in some big time adult flicks (most of which are due out shortly). All these efforts paid off this week when he signed an exclusive contract with Hot House. According to the press release he was impressed with the company while filming the upcoming flick Locker Room and decided to sign on as an exclusive soon after. The movie is out on DVD in April but his key scene with superstar Tony Mecelli is available for viewing at Hot House Backroom. You'll also be able to see Ferelli in Skuff 4 win which he'll have a scene with super-sex Ross Hurston.

If anyone could be regarded as an overnight sensation with potential staying power it would be Leo Giamani. Last year we got a sneak peek courtesy of Mighty Men and site owner Jon Royce nailed it when he predicted Giamani's success. It seems like the buzz over him was instantaneous and sites were stepping over themselves to post videos he had done for them. Like Vince Ferelli, Leo Giamani was also cast in films--his Titan flick Playbook is out now and Asylum from Falcon is available for viewing as a download while Mustang's Red Light is due shortly. Leo is now a Randy Blue exclusive and his work here has been the catalyst for even more success. For example, he was one of a handful of Randy Blue models featured in DNA magazine recently and he's done modeling for Rufskin. We have a feeling that after more people see Leo's pics, Rufskin is going to have a big boost in sales. Also this past week, the GayVN Awards announced their nominations which included online categories for the first time. Yes, you guessed it, Leo was nominated in the Best Web Performer category. Think about it. The first year that he's appeared in online videos, the first year the category has existed, and he's in the first group that's ever been nominated. Now that's success.
