Make Me A Super Model Changes It Up

If you wondering why that there hadn't been any news about the cast or airdates for the second season of Bravo's Make Me A Super Model, you weren't alone because we were too. It was all cleared up a few days ago when the official website was launched and the story behind the delay was revealed--the season has already been filmed and it stars airing on March 4. That's right, unlike last year when this reality/competition series was aired in near-real time, the second season has already been completed and it's undergone a complete revamp.

If you recall, online viewers were a big part of the premiere season of Make Me A Super Model because they determined through web voting & text messages who would be eliminated each week and who the ultimate winner would be. In order for this to work the series unfolded as closer to real time as possible to allow votes to be tabulated and for the episodes to be filmed, edited and aired. As the aspiring models went through a series of competitions and tests they were judged by a panel of experts but the decisions were really left to the popular will of viewers. It's quite possible that the producers were not pleased with the way the voting went and we can certainly understand that. After all, if the winners of  Project Runway or Top Chef were left up to viewers' choices it would been reduced to a popularity contest (a la American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, etc).

Whatever the case, the producers have taken this viewer participation element out of the show and they didn't stop there. The original panel of judges (Tyson Beckford, Niki Taylor, fashion casting director Jennifer Starr and New York Model Management agency director Cory Bautista) have been replaced by designer Catherine Malandrino; model Jenny Shimizu; international model scout Marlon; and Perou, a fashion photographer (a judge on the original U.K. reality series).  Tyson Beckford will return as the series' sole host and mentor to the male models. Nikki Taylor won't be back and her replacement is Australian super-model Nicole Trunfio, whose role is solely as a mentor to the female models.

The Make Me A Super Model website also has a sneak peek of the 16 contestants who will be competing for the title, $100K, and a Cosmo contract. The site will be updated later with full profiles and pics of the contenders but we have a brief look here:
