Chi Chi LaRue's Grand Opening
There was a little gay porn glitz last night in West Hollywood as we attended the VIP grand opening of Chi Chi LaRue's. In case you haven't heard, the legendary award-winning director, producer and gay porn studio mogul has opened a new retail store on Santa Monica Blvd and we were there for the festivities. Pink champagne flowed, porn stars mingled among the invitees, the shelves were packed with DVDs and toys, porn flicks were played on the monitors, and Chi Chi herself was there to launch her own gay adult retail store. Or, as Chi Chi LaRue described it: "The retail whore hits the boulevard!"
A few months ago we lamented Weho's loss of adult store Drake's but it's been replaced by this new brightly lit pink-hued emporium. Because the store was wall-to-wall people we didn't get an accurate impression of the layout or the merchandise available, but you can be sure that it was neat and well-stocked. The area needs a store like Chi Chi's and we wish it all the luck. The opening night was a great start.
As we mentioned, the place was wall-to-wall people but we did manage to see stars galore and some other community luminaries. It's pretty hard to miss seeing Ch-Chi who was decked out in a full pinkish-orange jumpsuit and high hair---she really put to shane some of the other drag queens who adorned the aisles with their presence. Some male stars were easier to spot than others (champagne was served by shirtless studs), but because of the crowd, it's possible that we missed a few. But here goes nothing. As we mentioned champagne was served by several shirtless stars. They included ripped, tan and sexy Tyler Saint, friendly cub Josh West (we think), and newcomer Jeremy Bilding who just recently signed as a Channel 1 Releasing, exclusive. Of the three Tyler was the most business-like and Jeremy seemed a little intimidated by all the people and attention.
That said, there was a very casual nature to the proceedings, much more like a reunion-type party and not an all-star event. But there were stars as you'll see (in no particular order). Blake Riley was getting his fair share of looks--it didn't hurt that he looked sweet and adorable and very much as he appears in films. Johnny Hazzard was around too and if you've ever seen him at an event you know he never likes to stay in one place for very long. He was darting about as though he were the busiest man in the universe.
If your tastes runs into the sexy hairy fetish-types, you would have seen Peter Axel and Steve Cannon, both dressed as you wouldn't expect them--so clean-cut looking you'd never know they were porn guys. If we missed any guys it might be for that reason--that no one was really dressed to stand out.
However, the tall ones always DO stand out. Jack Ryan and Luca DiCorso are taller than we expected and oh so handsome too. Luca DiCorso especially caught the eye of one of our group. Tall Euro-stud Lucas Knowles was looking very All-American wearing a polo shirt and completely clean-shaven and we have to admit, looking much younger than he does in films. Barrett Long was hard to miss too because of his height and if you're aware of his enormous endowment then you could really imagine how big it really is. Nevertheless he kept his long dong in his pants and stuck with his mini-entourage.
The Hedda & Louella of gay gossip columnists were there too. Perez Hilton & Billy Masters seemed to be there off-duty and enjoying the company. Many of you might not even recognize Perez Hilton since he's let his hair go natural and he's slimmed down.
The after party took place place at Temptation at the Apple Restaurant Lounge where it was even harder to spot people. We do know that videographer Adam Killian and Mitchell Rock had planned to attend but we knew first-hand that they were going to be late because we caught them online doing a duo live show for Manifest Men.
