Love Unites: The Rally Against Prop 8

We'd like to take this time to remind you that this Saturday November 15 at 10 AM Pacific and 1 PM Eastern time
is the nationwide protest against Proposition 8. We urge all who are available to join this massive rally to make our voices heard. It will take place in EVERY state in the country you can find out where your local protest will be meeting up at the Join The Impact! website. At last count there are over 60 cities in California alone that are participating! Volunteers are needed all across the nation AND internationally, so at least take the time and look at the site and see how you can help.
We don't have to tell you how this protest continues to grow and how many people are getting involved. As you can see from the image above Shepard Fairey, creator of the iconic Obama "Hope" image, has designed a poster and you can get a high-resolution version of it HERE.
In other related news, a petition has already been filed with the California Supreme Court to stop the enactment of Proposition 8 and at least six minority legal defense organizations including that of the NAACP are part of the legal argument. Here's the official statement:
"Civil rights groups today filed a petition with the California Supreme Court to stop the enactment of Proposition 8 because it would mandate discrimination against a minority group and did not follow the process required for fundamental revisions to the California Constitution. In the petition, the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Equal Justice Society, California NAACP and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. argue that in order to protect the fundamental rights of all Californians, a higher standard is required to overturn the right to marry. Minority communities cannot be stripped of their fundamental rights by a simple majority vote."
