Recently Brad Pitt donated $100, 000 to fight Proposition 8, the initiative on the California ballots this November that seeks to overturn the legality of same-sex marriage in the state. In his way, gay icon Pitt was issuing an un-official challenge to the rest of Hollywood to put up money for the fight.  Strangely enough, gay Hollywood hasn't responded in kind top this challenge. In fact it's straight director Steven Spielberg who has donated another $100, 000 to the fight! While it may be true that this initiative is way behind in the polls, it HAS been amassing more funds than the "No on Proposition 8" effort and will be strongly pushing for its passage. So where are the big time LGBT celebs (some of whom HAVe taken advantage of the same-sex marriage law)who have hefty incomes and haven't made these kind of donations?  They remain simply..silent.

 Spielberg and his actress-wife Kate Capshaw didn't just donate money, they issued a statement:

"By writing discrimination into our state constitution, Proposition 8 seeks to eliminate the right of each and every citizen in our state to marry regardless of sexual orientation. Such discrimination has NO place in California's constitution, or any other."

 Bravo to the Spielbergs. 

 As for Ellen, Rosie, TR, Neil, Lindsay, etc. we hope that they stand up, speak out, and put up money too.
