Over the course of several months Hot House managed to create a lot of anticipation for Trunks 5 with their announcements of interesting castings and the subsequent publicity shots. Then there were those individual scenes available at Hot House Backroom--they served a dual purpose of creating buzz for the movie and generating interest in the Hot House Backroom site. And it must have been successful because other companies are trying to do similar marketing strategies (to say nothing of "borrowing" the theme). But there was still one question remaining: is Trunks 5 worthy of all this effort?  The answer is yes.

 While there's nothing groundbreaking about Trunks 5, it does stand out from its predecessors in the Trunks series. This in itself is impressive because all the entries in this series have taken place in a sun-drenched pool setting and all are plot-free sex romps. Director Steven Scarborough makes Trunks 5 a standout simply because of its impressive cast. Hot House has done a great job of filling the video with sexy performers from across the gay adult spectrum including lots of fresh faces. It gives the film an aura of feeling like its the first in the series instead of the fifth.

                 

  Trunks 5 starts out with a bang by featuring Kyle King and newcomer David Dakota ---two names that should be familiar to those of who follow this blog. The two start their scene out playfully and sensuously and both bring their own distinct personae to the scene. It could be that without the constraints of a plot the two are freed up to have much more inspired and spontaneous fun. The two are great together but this scene provides a great example of why we and so many others are high on King. Dakota is a little more tentative but comes around once King gives him the push to become the aggressor. Yes, Kyle King is probably THE reason why Hot House is on our radar. 

  Scene 2 of Trunks 5 is the one that features the biggest and most welcome surprise. It features Tyler Saint and Ross Hurston, both looking absolutely perfect. Tyler Saint has been on the scene for over a year now and been one of our faves, but we've been disappointed that he hasn't had more to do--until now. Here he has a very hot flip-f;op scene with the always sexy Hurston. Yes, Tyler Saint bottoms for Ross Hurston here and vice versa and it's inspired casting. As much as we like Saint he's been a bit one-note as the dominant op in his previous movies. It's good to see him in a versatile role with the always energetic sex pig Hurston. They both get verbal and if you're into this you'll not be disappointed. Maybe now Tyler Saint will be more apt to try this role out in the future.

 Next up are young studs Kai Ford & Mason Wyler. After all the tans in previous scenes it's a little startling to see relatively white Mason here in Trunks 5 but he's not out of place sexually. He and Kai Ford have a very hot flip-flop scene and are very well-matched in terms of acting enthusiasm. Mason Wyler is very oral in all his movies and an eager bottom so it's good to see someone else try and match him. One interesting note is that sometimes Mason moans in a high pitch voice in many of his movies so it's a welcome change to see it toned down a little here.

                   

 Ross Hurston returns for the next scene with Randy Blue. alum Tyler Johnson who has turned into one dynamite performer. At Randy Blue Tyler was given a chance to shine in the much-talked about extra length Alley Cats and he's brought that sexier, grittier sexed up and verbal persona to this scene. Next to Hurston you really see how big Tyler is and the two feed off each other getting more piggish as the scene goes on. If that's one thing that Hurston knows how to do it's to bring this out with his scene partners.

 Things gets switched up again for the final scene between Josh West and Johnny Gunn, the two who seem the closest physical matches and look like they'd be more at home in leather. Maybe that's why it's more exciting to see these rough-and-ready leather types in speedos, getting it on and acting like they ARE dressed in leather. Verbal and tough with each other they offer a sharp contrast to the rest of the scenes and give the video and extra bit of variety.

  In the end Trunks 5 provides any compelling case for gay porn the way it used to be--no plot, little dialog. Just sex left up to the imagination of the viewer to make up their own story.
