Roped Into Reality TV: Update

Well it looks like HGTV dodged a bullet. Over the weekend we reported that Michael Verdugo (aka Mikey V), one of the contestants on the reality show Design Star had a little gay bondage porn in his past (as Jeremy Wess) and the blogosphere was buzzing.  Mikey V's past also made it into the official forum at the HGTV website and there was some concern over a scandal (of sorts) if he were to win the competition and get his own show.

However, in a dramatic (or convenient) conclusion to last night's episode TWO contestants were eliminated and Mikey V was one of them. Strangely, he got very little post-elimination screen time while the contestant who was eliminated previously got boatloads in comparison.  The episode wasn't a total loss because the guest star last night was sexy hunk Carter Oosterhouse (Carter Can).

All we can say on the subject is too bad. Eye candy is always a good reason to watch a TV show and watching something with the hot-bodied "Mikey V" would have been a priority. Then again, he often had a "deer in the headlights" look which wasn't helpful. Perhaps David Bromstad could use a male assistant or co-star for his Color Splash. Can you imagine? Two well-built sexy guys with tattoos on their muscular arms doing design work--the ratings would skyrocket! And we did get a chance to see Rope Rituals the previously mentioned gay bondage film---so we know that Mike takes orders well!

Of course we're prejudiced when it comes to male beauty but why is it such a threat to other contestants on reality shows? It seems the hotter the guy the greater the chance of being eliminated or voted off.  Look what's going down on the new season of Big Brother. Jesse, the guy with the big muscles is already on the chopping block thanks to two manipulative & straight out of shape assholes and a crazy bitch. More on our take on the first episode coming up.
