 Once again we've come across some newsy tidbits in the past few days that individually don't make for a full blog entry but when taken together they give us our theme for today--comebacks and newcomers. What we've noticed about several of the items to follow is that they defy so-called conventional wisdom.

 We've found out that Max Grand is coming out of retirement --or at least making the attempt. He's signed with David Forest and has made himself available for potential gigs. Max Grand was very prolific in the 90's and beyond and from the little research we did it looks like when he "retired" in 2002 he had @100 films to his credit. 
Now, of course Max Grand isn't the first (nor will he be the last) adult star to stage a comeback. In fact, some performers don't really retire -- they simply move sideways to escorting or into the production end of the industry before making their returns. We don't know how successful Max Grand will be at this. Many have tried and 
have had limited success.

 Max Grand could be another Kevin Williams who did achieve success after retiring as a popular blond twink bottom in the 80's and made a comeback a decade later in 1998 as a beefed up bottom in a handful of Falcon films. He could easily have gone on but he retired once again after a brief run of films. We don't know the exact reason but we've heard that the end of his relationship to fellow pornster Lane Fuller was a big factor. 

 Since (according to David Forest) Max Grand looks great he could also just step right back in without a problem like his former co-star (in Breakaway) Chase Hunter. Hunter fit right back in after briefly retiring from films and returned to Falcon in big hits like Drenched and Basic Plumbing 3. In fact who else could have starred in this one? Hunter starred in the Basic Plumbing and Basic Plumbing 2 videos so this made the trilogy all the more appealing. Incidentally this kind of "continuity casting" came into play with Jim Bentley.

 Sexy, blond and hung Jim Bentley was a big deal at Falcon  in the '80s and '90s and was often coaxed out of retirement for roles. Since he had starred in both Splash Shots in '84 and in Splash Shots II in '87 it was a nice touch to see him appear in Splash Shots III in 2002. Naturally he wasn't playing the same role but the premise was the same--studly guys playing around with each other on the grounds of a mansion and in a pool. And Bentley also appeared in a flashback (from Spokes II) in Spokes III

 Speaking of Spokes II, the other Falcon star from this film that made a comeback was Race Jensen. He had appeared in Falcon classics like Touch Me, Cruisin', etc and reappeared in 2002 in The Dark Side and Deep South. The difference was that Jensen looked completely different facially. If Max Grand can avoid this pitfall then he should do well.

 The other guy who is returning to porn had a very short retirement--Claudio Martin will be doing work for Lucas Entertainment. You may recall he was on the recently concluded season of Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency as
Rodrigo De Carli (his real name?). He was part of Janice's new business plan or as she said it in her inimitable loud vocal stylings "I'm going to start a whole new LATIN division!" Plus, he had an onscreen date with fellow model JP Calderon.  We can't necessarily assume Rodrigo/Claudio won't be back on the show because as we've learned in recent years doing porn doesn't seem to be the career killer it used to be.
