A Tale of Four Cities

Provincetown, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas. Okay, this really isn't about these four different places. It's about four individuals living in these four cities, living lives that are at once separate and connected. To the world they are known as Spencer Quest, Erik Rhodes, Jason Ridge, and Mason Wyler. We've been following their lives through their fascinating, insightful, heartfelt, often witty and sometimes achingly heartbreaking blogs. Purposely or not, they all gives us a glimpse into the world of the adult industry and its effects on these guys.

We begin with a "whatever happened to...?  theme. Our first stop in our four-part series is Provincetown, the current home of former adult star Spencer Quest. His blog began in January 2006 as his way of connecting to his fans so they could get to know the "real" Spencer Quest.  At that time with only a few hot Titan films under his belt, he had become very popular and he would soon win awards and perform in Lucas Entertainment movies. In very little time Spencer Quest had crafted a riveting diary that was free-spirited and in many ways very honest. Oh sure there were fluff pieces but the blog became increasingly personal, sometimes shockingly so. Those who followed the blog religiously saw the pleasures and pitfalls of being an erotic film star--the drugs and the insecurities, and the power of both of them to bring people down. Spencer Quest kept very few secrets in his blogs so when he announced his decision to go into rehab towards the end of the year it was not a big shocker to his readers. They saw it coming.

Spencer Quest's journey through rehab to overcome his meth addiction was not an easy one and his story is not a unique one. But it IS a hopeful one for those who do struggle with addiction. For Spencer Quest did survive and return to the place that he has often referred to as "home"-Provincetown. It is there that he has become a part of the artistic community. If you go to his site you'll probably detect a tranquility about the man. On the other hand he has also resumed his blog after three months with more powerful entries about his life in the adult industry. And he has written informative and non-preachy entries about drugs and safe sex. You could say that Spencer Quest may have retired from the industry that gave him much and almost took away more, but through his blog he has also become something of an activist. He's also participating in the Braking The Cycle ride this September. We were (and are) fans of Spencer Quest the adult performer but we are also fans of Spencer Quest the man. We continue to wish him well.

His filmography is not vast but it IS memorable:

 For Titan:

Alabama Takedown
