Make Me A Super Model: Love Story

About the best thing you can say about the TV disaster known as Big Brother 9 is that it has taken the heat off of Make Me A Super Model. All those that complained about the "gratuitous on-air nudity" (as Entertainment Weekly called it) of MMASM probably think it's genteel compared to the painfully unfunny and trashy shenanigans of the BB9 cast. We've seen horrible stuff happen on previous seasons, but this one takes the cake. We'll have more commentary another time, but for now we hope that in the future these contestants are more carefully chosen and screened.

But, as the title of this blog suggests we wanted to recap and talk about Make Me A Super Model. Our resident gay boy Ronnie Kroell is on the bubble of elimination for the second week in a row and we are none too pleased about it. We're hoping that his popularity and his "storyline" may save the day---even if he seems unable to save himself. What gives us hope is that the buzz on this Bravo show is mostly about Ronnie's crush on straight married guy Ben and their platonic love affair.  As Entertainment Weekly says, "it's igniting plenty of will-they-or-won't they speculation"  and "...it's nearly impossible to find a blog that doesn't refer to the duo as 'adorable' ."

But, no matter how well these two get along and what if anything may happen, things just don't seem to be going Ronnie's way. Whether through editing or not, the show (and the judges) seem to be favoring Holly and Perry--so much so that they make us feel that the outcome is a foregone conclusion. Poor Ronnie just can't win. This week in the photoshoot he gave Holly the inspiration to do well just as he had done with Ben previouslyAside from his awkward catwalks, Ronnie seems to be unjustly criticized for his All-American look. If this was a problem why was he cast in the first place?

This was a week all about acting and roleplay as the models had to act out a scene for a photoshoot and play roles on the runway. Perry and Jackie seemed to be working out their own tense relationship in the first shoot and both were a tad hammy. We weren't that impressed with Perry's over the top foppish acting for his runway show. Perry is getting that aura of entitlement that makes him seem less likable.

So again, Ronnie is on the bottom with Frankie and Stephanie. Will our guy be saved again? And if he is, will he
use this as a catalyst to improve? Let's hope! By the way, if you have the time be sure and check out Ronnie's diary at the Bravo site. If you weren't impressed by this sweet guy before, you'll learn he has a very good attitude about this whole thing.
