John Cena: Super Model

Bruce Weber. L'Uomo Vogue. John Cena. That old guessing game of "which of these things does not belong with the other?" surprisingly doesn't apply here. That's because the newest issue of L'Uomo Vogue has a "Vogue Sport" insert featuring "Big Men" ----one of whom is WWE wrestler John Cena in a Bruce Weber photographed layout. Leave it to Weber to lovingly convey the softer side of this muscular star of the ring. As you can see you won't mistake John Cena's hulking form or rugged face for that of a runway model. Plus, we're not sure if this really softens his image in spite of being photographed with baby farm animals (does Lenny from Of Mice and Men come to mind?)

This wouldn't be Bruce Weber's first foray into less than pretty male subjects. He's done several photo essays and films where his camera captured boxers and more rugged or sometimes wasted and faded beauties-Broken Noses, Let's Get Lost, Chop Suey, etc.
This essay doesn't suggest or prove anything, but it does make us ponder yet again those gay rumors that once dogged John Cena and have been peppered about on gay blogs for years.
