Big Brother: Love is NOT in the Air
The special winter Big Brother's special winter edition "Til Death Do You Part" ran its first episode on CBS on Tuesday night and the second episode airs Wednesday with the first eviction. Technically the aired show is still running days behind the live feeds and the Big Brother After Dark airing on Showtime Too. For those who don't have access to either of these, we won't spoil anything for you by telling you what exactly has transpired. However, we can put it this way----as far as we can tell Big Brother didn't do very well with their matchmaking, there's already alliances (and divisions), lesbian showmancing, and it doesn't look like there are any secrets left. If it sounds like the show's plans for this season have hot a snag, you'd be right. In fact you might say the house is in chaos.
Last night we officially met the 16 houseguests whose giddiness about being in the BB9 house was short-lived when the couples premise of the show was revealed. We're happy to say we did pretty well here at Jack Manly with our predictions.
We correctly nailed that Jacob and Sharon had been former childhood sweethearts although e didn't find out why they had broken up until last night. Mr Bible Jacob cheated on Sharon once he got out of the military. The dimwit, as cute as he is, couldn't understand why she was so mad. And as we predicted THEY were paired up. It was very reminiscent of the Big Brother season where four housemates had to live with their exes.
Of the guys we predicted that the oldest Adam would be set up with Sheila, but we had no idea how truly incompatible they would be from the get go. Sheila was devastated to be paired with Adam who should have put nose-picker and douche-bag on his list of personality traits. This certainly calls into question his description of himself as "stylish". Sheila didn't help matters by complaining.
As we predicted, real couple Ryan and Jen were not paired up. We can tell you that the hints of jealousy Ryan showed last night will come into full flower soon enough. This is playing out and it's one of the reasons the house has gotten divided.
The rest of the pairings are almost all non-romantic although we did notice that gay boys Neil and Joshuah didn't seem bummed out by the other one and they do talk to each other like they're friends. And Natalie really likes Matt (the problem is he isn't falling for her one bit). The only match that SEEMS to be working is Alex and Amanda who, if they aren't putting on a "showmance", are attracted to each other.
Big Brother might not have done such a hot job pairing up these people, but they did choose an appropriate first challenge to find out exactly how good (or bad) a job they had done matchmaking. Holding on to someone as you hang in the air definitely has a way of bringing out one's true nature.
As individuals we didn't get much of an idea about these folks on the show but we're paying attention on the live feeds and "after dark" shows. We're not confident yet about the impressions we've made here but we'll be filling you in once we get a better idea. It will be interesting to see how this all gets aired and edited.
