News Watch

Truitt, Marciano and Cooper
Watching the news can be a trying experience, especially during this political year when everything that happens is dissected and analyzed to death. We realize that this is the current status quo of journalism but sometimes it is can be exhausting. However, we at Jack Manly try to look at the bright side of things. The more news there is and the more news channels there are the better chance there is to see some hunky handsome men in front of the camera.
Oh, come on you didn't think this was going to be political editorial did you? Oh, we do have political thoughts and opinions but we're not going to bore you with them here. Our only one we're sharing now is this-- it's very important to get a Democrat elected as President this year. End of discussion.
That said, there are definitely some very good and sexy reasons for staying informed on the news of the day. Peter, Anderson, Rob, Steve and a few other flesh and blood reasons may also motivate you to start watching.
There was a time when Bill Hemmer had us glued to CNN in the morning, whether he was behind the desk or on assignment. We even held out hope that the single hunk was gay. No such luck (in fact we had heard he's a bit of a dud in the romance department). Then the world changed and he made a deal with the devil and defected to Fox News. Our CNN allegiances had already shifted anyway to Anderson Cooper. Now we don't have to explain who he is, do we?

Bill Hemmer John King John Vause
Dear Anderson is not the only CNN stud to have had us watching. But too many of these guys have either slipped away or been demoted thanks to the cable network's tilt towards the right to compete with Fox News (or as MSNBC's liberal voice of reason Keith Olberman refers to as Fixed Noise) White House correspondent hunky and handsome John King questioned the Bushies and poof--he's no longer the WH correspondent. But he's still a stud.
The same was true of Thomas Roberts, whose role as weekend anchor was "mysteriously" cut back when he came out. For shame CNN.
Now, it isn't as though CNN isn't trying. Weather stud Rob Marciano has been the only reason to be interested in the weather outside of our own locale. He's been doing some more hard news lately, including a fill in anchor spot and as a correspondent for Anderson Cooper 360 (hmmm, did Anderson hand pick him for this?) So, CNN you can try and tempt us back with someone like Bejing correspondent John Vause, but once Anderson Cooper leaves the network there will be less reason to watch at all. Especially if he takes Rob Marciano with him (well we can dream, can't we?)
Before we get to MSNBC's studs, we'd like to make a mentions of local LA news guy Steve Truitt, the morning traffic guy on KNBC. He's not a regular, but when he is on the air we watch intently. And we are very lucky because he's also done on air work for HGTV and Discovery (Cool Stuff and How It Works returns in February). Yes, he's married with kids but we can still like him, right? He's got a big heart too-he does volunteer work for the blind!

Jonathan Capehart Patrick Healy Peter Alexander
As for MSNBC, we've gotten intrigued with several journalists who often appear on the political pundit shows like Hardball for their opinions on the news of the day. Jonathan Capehart, who writes for the Washington Post is often called in for his perspective (and thankfully never pigeonholed as a "gay journalist!) as is the New York Times scruffy but sexy Patrick Healy. Oh here's a doozy for you. Have you heard that Andrew Sulllivan, the conservative gay journalist, took Capehart to task for not being harder on the Dems and their lack of full support for gay marriage? Huh? Sullivan will no doubt support a GOP candidate this fall in spite of the fact that gay marriage is something the Republicans use as a wedge issue---talk about wackos.
But this past week, the one that has caught our eye is handsome and sexy Peter Alexander who is now based in the Los Angeles bureau (YES!) He's covered many important stories around the globe including war and he anchored MSNBC this week. Talk about a hottie. We want to know MORE!
That's just the tip of the stud iceberg. We plan on doing more in depth "research".

Did you all see the super-hot photos of former CNN anchor Thomas Roberts from his Manhunt page? It's almost enough to make me watch Access Hollywood, his current show. Almost.
Anderson need to come out. He says that he doesn't talk about his personal life, then he writes a book that recounts in detail the day his brother fling himself out the window in front of his mother. What a hypocrite! Still, I'd love to see AC nakedly 360. Or how about: Anderson Cooper 3-69? Oh, Anderson. It's so hard to stay mad at you.
