Prom Date

Christian's model is no dream girl

We'd have to do a little fact checking but it sure seems as though the designers on this season's Project Runway haven't had as much use of models as in previous seasons. Out of the 7 episodes so far, the designers have had to design for a former athlete using male models, for real women who had dropped quite a few pounds, and this week for Catholic high school girls who needed a prom dress. And were these girls hard to please!

Each of the designers had a particular dilemma with their models. The girls were are very specific about what they were looking for, some were more vocal than others, some had physical limitations, and their mothers were also on hand to make sure the girls didn't look too sexy. But, as with other episodes, some designers had more problems than others.

Christian seemed to have the biggest headache but didn't suck it up. His girl literally made demands and he was forced to make a heavy-duty baroque couture ensemble that might have worked out had he edited himself more.
In addition to taking her verbal abuse, he dished it back and blamed her at the runway show-- bad move!

Rami and Sweet P both had designs that were more mature than their models but Rami (who has similarities in style to last season's Laura) made his model look matronly. Sweet P gave her model a look of Hollywood glamour.

Anyone else notice that Rami has a hot bod under those clothes he wears? We got a glimpse of it in the morning sequence...let's see if he shows us more. One thing is for sure, Project Runway isn't focusing very much on Rami or his personal story. Usually they do that if a designer is not going to last so we predict he's going to be one of the final three.

When all was said and done Victorya won with a jet blue dress studded with jewels and that literally sparkled when it was modeled. Sweet P came in a close second and at the bottom were Ricky & Kevin.

We wonder why the judges keep prolonging Ricky's agony. They never love his designs and he just doesn't get what they're looking for. His design was a great example of "a miss is as good as a mile". Almost a good design, badly put together and a color that was a complete washout.  Kevin misfired badly with a red baby doll dress design that made the poor girl look like she was turning tricks on Sunset Blvd. And he committed the cardinal sin of ignoring important advice about a clean hem. So it was Kevin's turn to go.

Now the field is completely made up of women and gay men and next week more fireworks when the designers team up. Ouch!
